Umm yeah. I didn't literally rob a cradle. The candles were not really signifying a number, but rather the heart shape. My wife actually did the candle placement. I probably would have been a little more precise with my candle placement
It's really tasty too. I had a pretty decent sized piece for dessert tonight. It's funny, we didn't really do anything that we traditionally do for her birthday. We usually go out for her birthday dinner. Usually to places that are pretty highly regarded. I bought the cake mix, frosting, and candles a couple days ago, along with the cheeses, steak, bread and veggies for the fondue, and we had the prosecco. We stayed in, we both cooked, and washed dishes. She got a ton of messages wishing her a happy birthday. Some were from people she's not seen or heard from in a while. I told her about all the happy birthday wishes from FHC'ers. We ate our dinner in front of the stove, with a table for the fondue pot. Usually we have to try and request a table by a fire if at all possible. No worries about that at home. All of these things just made her really happy. That made me very happy. Sometimes it's just nice to get back to simple.
I have had that happen to me. I didn't answer cause I didn't want to talk to myself. If a number shows up that I don't recognize, I let the answering machine get it and if I recognize the caller, then I pick up.
I actually thought, what a great cake and candles...But I am surprised the guy I know as Horkn must have been drinking when he placed those candles.
Sitting here with the genny running for heat, refrigerator and some lights. Power for the whole north end of Vancouver Island went out about noon and it is going to be at least 24 hours before it is back on. campinspecter was in the middle of a plumbing project in the darkest part of the house. We had the boiler running as well. Sooooo glad we bought a generator. Mom's neighbour got her generator running for her about time it got dark.
Apparently it was a category 1 hurricane on the Pacific ocean side of Vancouver island. Trees down everywhere. Our main road down island was closed for most of yesterday afternoon. Not a usual event for our area.
Kinda chilly out this AM. Spent a few hours in the shop working on mirror frames for the bathroom. These things are kicking my butt. I know you aren't, but if you ever do think of making cabinets out of elm, don't. There's so much tension in the wood....a board can be flat and straight....but when you rip a couple inches of the side it warps on all 3 axis's....and you get to start over. When you are making mirror frames you don't have anything to fasten to to pull it back to flat/straight again. Getting new neighbors in a couple weeks...my BIL is moving in right next door. We're pretty excited. Our extended family now owns half the houses in the neighborhood (9/18).
On an iphone you can go into settings and turn caller ID on outgoing calls 'off'. Anyone getting a call from you sees "private caller" or whatever their OS puts when the caller ID field is null.
A little bit of interesting reading regarding spoof/ spam/robocalls. How to stop annoying robocalls on your iPhone or Android phone
Been busy, busy, busy. My wife is starting to slowly decorate for the Holidays, so I might as well get in the spirit. I went and bought a 15 pound Turkey the other day while they were on sale for .99/lb. I’m figuring about 8lbs for the boy, 2lbs for me, and three for the rest of the ladies/girls in the house. And a couple of wasted bones, etc. Of course we will get green been casserole, stuffing, mashed, and gravy to go with. And it will probably take us three days to eat it. Mmmmm, three days of Turkey dinner!
