Nice job! Hopefully you don't have the wind gusts that we've been having. Last night there were near 50 mph gusts. Roof work in high winds is not good.
My Saturday wood cutting plan got blown up, but it was still a good day. Drove to Elkin to see my parents, sister, nephews, niece and nephews newborn. Had a cheeseburger, a few brats and was off to Mt Airy to see my best friend. Chewed the fat for a bit and drove back home to get a fire started. Maybe tomorrow I’ll knock the dust of the 084.
Felt motivated this afternoon and fired up my splitter. I had seven 30" red oak rounds to split and stack which I did. There's still many more big rounds to come from the same tree next door that I need to cut and roll into my yard but no hurry to get it done. I fixed my son's 4 wheeler so he could at least blast around on that in the waning light of the day while I worked. It's nice and cool outside but not quite cold enough to light the stove before bed. That'll be tomorrow morning's treat. Breakfast and hot coffee while I watch the flames.
I have the mail forwarded to another address during the winter months and have always taken the mailbox down. It is better for the snow plows. Especially when the push the snowbanks back.....then they don't have to raise the wing for the mailbox.
Chilly morning in the house. Went to bed cold, and woke up to 61F. Dragged some cherry in and the stove is pinging away while I drink my coffee and get ready for another busy day.
The Vermont slate is down. I started mixing mortar at 5am. No spacers used either, as some pieces were off a little. I'll see if the boss let's me have the day off when she wakes up. I am beyond happy with it.
That looks nice. I only saw a couple of sections that didn't look perfect. Once you get the grout put in, you won't even be able to tell that much.
I grew up in one of those houses.. if someone kicked over a water bowl you grabbed a mop and ran to the spot
rain this morning. Glad I got the wood stack on the patio covered last night, after the outside blew 1/3 of the stack out. I saw it leaning, but my attempts were in vain. It's supposed to stop raining and we are to go to a friends and watch the 3pm game . It will be chilly outside, but I'm bringing dry uglies to get the fire pit choochin' big time.
Had to take a garage light fixture (outdoor) off and tighten it up. Too many years of having the wind blow it sideways and people twisting it back upright....sometimes in the wrong direction. Similar to this one. But, I should have waited until the roof was done melting and dripping all over me!!!!
We got some more snow right after this little guy was hanging around yesterday morning. Hope his mama was just hanging back and not dead. We cleaned up the yard really good this morning before breaking grouse camp and heading home. Over the last 5 days our oldest son and I put up some grouse for canning and got a good bit of black ash and aspen shoulder season firewood split and covered for next year's hunting camps.
fishingpol, you do good work! And I'll never forget that day we met for the first time! Good memories.
