Spent the day shooting sporting clays- fundraiser for Boy Scouts in the Indianapolis area. Pictured with me s Ms. Janet Holcomb, First Lady of Indiana. Her team finished first, and mine third. The First Lady, is an avid firearms related sportsman (?) who hunts out West and shoots a lot of events. She is in discussion with the Governor about hanging her latest elk mount at the entry way of the Governor’s mansion.

My lefty Benelli, served well today. clay shooter

I hate to tell you this, but after a while you will question how you ever had time to go to work. You'll have so much going on that your days will be overflowing with things yet to get done.

Anyone out there besides me who has a chest freezer and after a while, you have no idea what is under the top layer? Got sick of that. I pulled in three wheeled trash cans and began the purge. Literally tossed out everything but the very top layer. Lucky for me it is only a small unit. I didn't think a small until would get that way but it sure did. Things in the bottom were 2-3 yrs old. Didn't attempt to save anything that wasn't just a few months old or less. Just as soon as I got it cleaned out, the wife went off shopping for frozen food! :picard:

Pretty sure that is why my chest freezer got sold and I got a stand up in basement!! Yes the chest freezer supposedly use less energy but so what they waste more food.

Good luck Erik! Thankfully these tend to heal fast. I think I got new glasses (weaker) in 4 weeks.

No!!! The chest freezers do not waste; people do.

lol, I remember many years ago when we caught someone going back in the neighbor's woods.
come to find out, the lady had about 50 lbs of frozen meat. It was getting old so she just thought throwing it in the woods was a good idea. So I took it from her and gave the meat to a very needy family who thought they had been given gold! I did not even see any freezer burn on that stuff.

I am finding that out already. It has been a very busy week for my first week of retirement. Good thing is that I now can sit and watch baseball and not feel like I have to be doing something else!

i went iom to see the DR this morning and all looks well.Still some swelling and my eye is still dialated. Vision isn't good yet but it should clear up in a few days. I go back to see the DR next Friday and then I see my regular eye DR three weeks later to see what I need for prescription glasses. Very glad most of my wood is taken care of for the year.

I started bringing in some of this season's wood for storage under my deck. This is all Ash I got last winter from a buddy who had bucked it all, I just had to split it. As I was going through it today and trimming the pieces too long for my stove, I noticed it smelled EXACTLY like fresh cut Black Locust. (yes I'm aware my wood-smelling fetish might sound a little strange :) ) I don't remember Ash having this exact scent before. There must be some chemical component to the wood that makes it smell the way it does. Thoughts?

My suggestion is to fire your stove sparingly with the wood until you figure out what it actually is. A full load of BL could overheat your stove.

You know, wife knows no rules when unloading her groceries. Frozen food goes wherever she can make it fit. We had an upright for that reason, but we found it was costing about $14 a month to operate so out it went. Didn't have enough stuff to keep it full. It was a smaller unit, yet still too big. What we have now is plenty now that there is only the two of us and we don't have a garden. We only have the freezer for convenience. Not for saving money. We buy the big frozen bags of vegies and take out only what we want for a meal. Close the bag up and it will keep ok without frosting up. Things like the frozen biscuits are good. We take out two, bake them in the countertop oven. None to waste that way.
