If I could have gotten close enough to where I wanted to put it, I might have considered that! Where I was, I probably would have smashed into the swing set and pizzed off my wife and kids though.

I’m noticing a TON of chipmunks and squirrels in my yard..... squirreling away nuts for the winter. Way more than previous autumns. What do you think, a sign of a harsh winter ahead?

I'm seeing more gray squirrels this week and hulls from hickory nuts in the driveway.

Chickadees, nuthatches and Blue Jay's are showing up more frequently. Probably just normal caching away with the temps dropping.

Frost warning tonight. First one of the season and it’s a bit early too. Our local Farmer's Market guy was worried about his Basil and peaches. Might have to be a first fire in the very near future.

Hoping you’re wrong, but it doesn’t look too good for a mild winter.

We had that once when a nor’easter turned into a technical hurricane with 80mph winds and two feet of snow. The coast really got hammered.

Supposed to be low 40's tonight. I have crabapples to pick tomorrow and put up some jelly.

I tore out two upper cabinets for stove install today and helped the Mrs. relocate items into other cabinets. I hope to locate the ceiling support box location tomorrow and box it in. I'd like to plumb a line to the underside of the roof to figure where the roof penetration is going.

I won’t cry when it happens! I’m ready. Especially since last winter was a no-show. I’ve got my wood rack on the back deck full of tulip poplar to kick things off (maybe tomorrow morning; overnight lows around 40 here) Plenty of seasoned wood ready to burn, I just fired up my snowblower the other day and it’s running great, my generator will be fixed very soon.... Bring on the snowmageddon!

Darn deer pushed/knocked my snow fence down I had protecting some of my grapes and went to town on them. I don't think they were eating grapes, just the leaves and vine ends. Lots of grapes on the ground.
Picked two 5 gallon buckets of Concord grapes. Just got finished picking through them.

I took some pics the other day of a downed aspen top out back. It is interesting to see the bark change to a different color. It is similar looking to birch.

Here is a piece of birch laying on top of the Aspen. It looks almost like the same tree.

I'll grab the downed Aspen tomorrow and throw it on the stacks for shoulder season next year.
