My wife’s grandparents lost a young daughter back in the late 30s in Sherman. They were farmers out working, toddler daughter ran out behind the tractor and got run over. The rest of the kids, including her dad until the day he passed and all the grandchildren say in he dead of night you would wake up to a little kid playing and talking. Out of curiosity a few years ago my wife asked the people who now own the house. Older retired people now, both have said they have experienced the same thing. I don’t know what to think but I know my wife and whenever she talked about it she wasn’t chitting about what she heard.

Nope. Didn't mow. I'll wait until after it rains some.

Nice night, just after 12am now. Upper 60's and very smokey. I do believe we had a wind shift, catching smoke from the Williams Fork fire now.

One thing I told my kids is to never marry your job. Don't be afraid to move up and don't let salary be the only factor in your decision.

I brought my uncle some hickory rounds yesterday and got to talking. He's got a few acres and he's looking to clear cut about 1/3 acre to expand his lawn. It's a really nice mixed forest right now: pignut hickory, red oak, black birch, some white pine and a few maples. The only hard part is it's a hilly area and being New England there's a few boulders to work around. We'll probably start in the fall when it's pleasant to work outside. I'll bring my splitter and between the two of us we should be able to knock it out in a couple weekends. I'm kind of excited about getting some of the wood but more looking forward to just working with him and helping him out.

I’ve been directed to reduce the tree risk on a 7 mile forest trail. Most of the forest is made up of 60-80’ Va Pine. If you are familiar with Va Pine you know what a cluster bump I’m dealing with. After 2 days we may have completed 1/4 mile. Reducing the risk in a Va Pine forest is probably comparable to fighting a wild fire with a 2qt watering can. Anyways it’s not exactly shinrin-yoku, but I’m in the shade all day.

F76495F0-AC44-47BA-B692-3E2471EDB230.jpeg A small stand of 5 trees of heaven with 2 growing into each other. I wonder if this would make a neat looking wood turning project one day?

Had a quick little storm blow through here this evening. 50mph winds whipped up a lot of leaves and trees were bending and I was waiting to see what would snap. The lights flickered a few times and the power went off for a few seconds. We will see what Hurricane Laura brings our way towards the weekend.

Made it to 92ºF again today.
Got some more fencing up to thwart the deer.
Three waves of thunderstorms bore down on us and not a drop of rain did we get..
    Again.
Temp is supposed to drop after this last wave of thunderstorms and the high for tomorrow is supposed to be a cold-sh 77ºF.
    Nice respite.
I haven't had to cut the lawn since June. Even the flowers on the weeds dried up.
