What's up today (bullchiting) thread.

Just had a quick video from my son. First of all everybody is safe. But I guess the town had a massive summer thunder storm come in. It took out all his trees in his yard including a 75' elm that is on his roof. His brother also had storm damage. Their dad is going over to check on the house the kids grew up in that he still owns. Of course no power.
Checked the local radio station out there and it looks like the got hit with straight line winds of around 100 mph. A lot of business and homes have gotten damaged.

 

That stinks...

 

That'll be funnier tomorrow.

 

The important thing is that everyone is safe. Insurance can take care of the house damage. These T-storms are packing high winds this season. Microbursts are doing their own special brand of damage as well.

Sorry they lost all their trees, and one landed on the house. I'm glad they are safe!

Yeah, I suppose you're right.
Hopefully you are getting all the typical homeowner headaches out of the way now and will soon be able to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor and all the low maintenance home updates!
At least I didn't go all Rottiman "no chit" on ya...

 

Our total bathroom remodel started out with a clogged sink drain that wound up being a clogged stack. Once you start tearing up it's hard to stop.

 

Ugggg.

The good news is that you are super handy and can fix anything.

 

Where is this? There were winds like that in Northern Illinois this afternoon. We lucked out here and just had some slight gusts and rain. There was a tornado warning in far SE WI.

Last Sunday they had a cook out and friends over for backyard games. The pic of the garage, Margaret and a friend just got home and the garage door wouldn't open. So Margaret went to the side door and went in and then she went to the front door to let her friend. In that short of time, that 75' elm came down on the right side of garage.

 

Living with trees around the house is a constant worry. We’ve got 11 on one side that I wish weren’t there some times.

 

They got hit hard. Don’t want ti like this one.

 

Ya they did. He stated that he had about 155 trees and once clean up is done said probably have 15 left. My other son across town had some tree damage, lost almost the private fencing in backyard. Trampoline, shed damage. I just got a video from him so no pics to post.

 

90% is a lot of loss of trees. You lose a good bit of windbreak, shade and more when the change is that dramatic. I guess they’ll have to plant carefully planned out tree stands at some future point. Trees... you can’t live with them and you can’t live without them. Again, it’s good no one got hurt. Good luck to them.
