    "Great Uncle Charlie"

"He told me when your number's up, it's up,
But somehow I never thought the day would come.
He was healthy, he was only sixty-nine..
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

He taught me how to fix my pickup truck,
He taught me how to build things out of wood.
He taught me what was wrong and what was right.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

He wasn't a big man, but he was strong.
Honest as a late June day is long.
He'd do what he must if the reasons, they were right.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

When I was young, and 5 bucks was a fortune,
When the cloudless august sun was almost scorching.
We'd walk up to the little store on the main road.
Get an ice cream and share some with the crows.
Sit on the beach, oh man we had the life.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

He made his living fishing on his boat,
He always tied the strangest knots in rope.
He was proud his collar was blue instead of white.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

I could never count the tools in his shed,
He always hit the nail on the head.
He never hired a contractor in his life.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

He said two was company, three's a crowd.
He would never live within 2 hours of town.
He lived up that little gravel lane all his life.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

He never longed to win a million bucks,
If he had his needs he was quite happy enough.
He said richness ain't just money, and he was right.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

He grew turnips, carrots, spuds and beets.
He farmed or hunted all of his own meat.
Nothing suffered, his aim was always right.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

His barn was rusty red, his grass was green.
His house was always bright blue like the sea.
His old ford pickup truck was red and white.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

At least he never suffered any pain.
He fell asleep with the sound of summer rain.
He went to rest in bed beside his wife.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night.

I have to believe, one day we'll meet again.
He wasn't just family, he was a friend.
And a part of me is now gone for all my life.
Great uncle Charlie passed away last night."

Friggin central air unit decided to quit last night after dinner. The fan was still running but the compressor wouldn't kick on. I narrowed it down to the run capacitor and checked it first thing this morning. Yep it was toast. Two year old unit lol. A trip to the supply store and $13 later we were up and running again.

    X2 ^^^^

Bad part is I know I'll never win
    :(

It's extremely rare that I purchase any lottery tickets.
    :emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet:

If I come home with lottery tickets, then something at work made me want to walk out and not go back.

Happens around once every couple of years, so I shouldn't complain much.

Glad to have good employment with this company, have great respect for the owner.

But.. That doesn't stop me from not wanting to go in most days.

    As the song goes..

I just replaced my two year old capacitor. I keep a spare on the shelf so I dont have to worry about trying to sleep in a hot house.

I have the day off and the truck goes in for yearly sticker. I have to do some prep in the attic today as a few sheets of plywood are going up to the attic tomorrow. They won't fit up the attic stairs, so through the third story window. It should be interesting. The old wide pine floor boards will be going out today to make room. We should have cooler weather tomorrow for the fun stuff.

Absolutely! The unit is still under warranty but I wasn't about to deal with a warranty claim if it was something that simple. Thanks!

It's sad how poorly made everything is made these days. We shouldn't have to keep spare air conditioning parts haha.

Yep! I had two fail on startup this year. I think I can attribute mine to a lightning strike next door last fall.

Got the OK to tear out the bathroom tomorrow. Not much else I can do on the bedroom until the flooring gets here.

Come on down here for a visit and you could take a few dozen of those home with you and we would never miss them.

I figured I'd get that new insinkerator ( garbage disposal) installed tonight. It's done, it works, and it doesn't leak. It was loud before the old one stopped working, and the body of the disposal leaked.

My wife is happy to get both sides of the kitchen sink functional again.

    Nobody got shocked either.
