SURRENDER We can put a lot of pressure on ourselves to produce "successful" kids, and there is no question that parenting requires a lot of hard work. But, what exactly is our role in the process? In this passage, Paul explains the role of a teacher. We believe it applies just as well to a family. Parents are God's representatives in the family, and that role is crucially important. In the end, however, we have to surrender the results to God because He is the One "who causes the growth." He will grow our children into His design. While it is difficult to let go of our design and surrender our kids to God, it is God's will that they grow less and less dependent on us and more dependent on Him. You cannot force your child to grow up to be a godly person, but you can be a godly parent. Use your children's experiences, your example and gentle exploration to "plant and water" your kids, and surrender the results to God. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 NIV
Up early this morning as campinspecter is headed down island for shopping and work on the truck. I am headed into the office as staff will be in the building for the month of June. If any parent wants to send their child to school for extra help with the on-line lessons, they get one day a week. If not too many request it, those who do may get more days. It will be an interesting month. I thought my hands would ache this morning with the weeding I did but they aren't too bad. Bonus for a Monday morning.
Sat. was mowing and such ( that is mostly a 2 day project) Sun. was pull the 8N out and take to son's property a couple counties over to the east , build small shed for 8N, then back home I was beat. Really nice weather all weekend here. Grand kids were all wore out by 1 pm. not that I wasn't too far behind them. Got home and had to get place set up for the septic guy. 3 year inspection cycle mandated by gov.
Glad you had a good day Jon. You mentioned a hand shake and I too had a hand shake yesterday from a friend who came from Louisana. First time I've shook hands since....well, I don't even remember the last time.
Looks like a beautiful sunny day in store again before rain moves in tonight. Wife will be doing laundry and I need to find someone open selling LP. Also hope to plant some beans and stake up some peas. Hope this body will allow me to do all this. If not, there will be another day.
probably will put a boot on it. I do that often. So much easier, and if you replace your pipe, you can reuse the boot. It does look good.
I know what you mean, the news has been labeling DC as "Washington". Yes, it was Washington DC (not the state). It was so symbolic!
