Condolensces to you and your family Pete.

If all goes well this afternoon, some apples are going to see the inside of a certain oven.

Sorry to hear the bad news Pete.

I am currently watching a BBC reenactment documentary on farm life of the 1600s. Currently they are dragging a holly branch down a chimney via a rope to clean the chimney.

Rotated the tires on my truck, pit the wife's treadmill together, and now I am battening down the homestead. We have some pretty wicked winds blowing now and by 6 -7 this evening, it's supposed to be pretty nasty (gusts up to 50-60 mph). Anything that can blow away or be blown over is getting moved inside or strapped down.

My strategy today was start slow with a big finish.

Started by staying my jammies and reading the papers all morning. Then a great lunch of left over Chile I made last week.

Then did a little stacking and raking, and now chilling in the living room with Mama.

Shoulder season and it is mild outside so just have the Resolute going downstairs and letting the heat float up.

I shoveled some stuff today and I'll let it stay at that, oh this years compost bins have 7.5 cubic yards of what I shoveled and other stuff.

I cleaned out the large chicken coop today.

Some was, but I don't think it was what you are thinking of.

I'll put it this way the coop didn't smell right to the birds when I went to put them in for the night. Besides a bribe I had to chase each one of them into the coop.

Helped move 1 1/4 cords of wood today - I got to stack it. No wheel barrowing for me. Made another Christmas cake, made a batch of buns and also spaghetti for tomorrow. Seeing as the boiler has finished running, Campinspecter just put two potatoes in the boiler for a snack. Mine is getting butter on it. :D

He got a new saw last Christmas - see the Caulk boot thread. I think he wants me to retire from work (outside of the home) tomorrow and not the end of January like we planned! ;)

Haha my wife is snoring insanely loud. I thought the window opened in the storm ( no joke ). When I went back to the living room she gave a quick snort and then silent.

The hatchet finally came in the mail today. It didn't really take long, but I am impatient. Dad's xmas gift also showed up-- a 4 quart cast iron Dutch oven with bail and a lid with a lip to hold coals on. Funny thing, I accidentally put it on my main amazon wish list instead of my gift ideas list and when I went to order it amazon told me someone had bought it already. Sounds like I am getting one for Xmas too, which is just fine for me! Also got one of the old lady's presents today, pink polka dotted pot holder. But I thought I was getting a pair so now I need to order another one.
