Forgot to add that today's load of firewood was almost all cherry. I got into a good patch of dead and down although some of the smaller stuff, I should have left there as it is pretty borderline.

I went out to fire up the OWB just a few minutes ago and could still faintly smell that fresh cut cherry in the wood pile!

It does smell good. We cut and split some yesterday, along with some pecan and hickory for a customer to smoke/grill with. 0508201201.jpg

I thought about this last night and can't believe that I forgot to include it in my post about firewood run yesterday.

We saw a young bear where I was grabbing the wood from! Couldn't believe that it was by itself, but it was small.

Now, before you all go jumping on the wagon and replying that the mother was around....the bear wasn't that young. It just wasn't grown to adulthood yet.

yooperdave that reminds me of the day my wife went to the mailbox and passed a bear. They each went their separate ways okay.

Naw. The way that thing skedaddled, if it was still tagging along with its Mom, she would've come running.

Got the garden tilled. It was more work to lift the rototiller over the 30" rabbit fence and back at the end than the actual tillage. I saved the existing chives that were in the garden, or are these green onions? Hopefully green onions. Either way we'll use them, but I've already got a patio pot of chives that gives us all we need.

I'll need to use the metal rake to get any weed roots out of the garden, and also to level it out, but it looks good. This was the first time I've ever used a rototiller to really till this garden. I've put in several bags of compost and garden soil over the years, so it's a lot better than the thick hard clay that we would have otherwise.

I didn't find any more Allen Edmonds chrome plated shoe horns. Not yet at least.

Back story, the guy we bought the house from in 2008 worked at Allen Edmonds shoe company, and apparently he thought throwing them and other stuff into the area where the garden is now was the right way to get rid of them. I saved about 20 of them that were nice and shiny when we first moved in and made the garden there. Previously it was his burn pile area. :picard:

Well it’s Mother’s Day. Sorry to say but my mother is kind of a nut job, needless to say we didn’t celebrate. Went grocery shopping this morning. Went with my daughter to get the wife something. Put up some new shelves in the basement storage room. Father called, his last brother passed last night. I already knew but didn’t let him know that. Not China virus related, he had many problems and close to 80 years old. What are you to do in this day and age?
