Got a freeze warning here tonight. Not much I can do for the fruit trees I'm afraid, but going to try to cover up the strawberries.

Set up sprinklers? I guess that's what the orchards do...

Yep, freeze warning here tonight also. Wind is BLOWING, supposed to be low twenties to teens windchill tonight. Our apple and pear trees just started looking pretty with blooms, hope they make it.

It was flurrying a little bit ago.

Freeze last night for a couple hours, and hard freeze tonight from midnight-8 am. I set up the trouble light in the boats doghouse on a timer. Cheap insurance.

    Loon Happy birthday!!!

Freezes won't hurt what we have planted. After this cold spell is over then we'll plant the more tender plants.

I really wonder and wondered when I found out there were a few farmers who planted soy beans over a week ago. I expect they will be replanting next week. It is crazy to plant beans before May 10.

Yes. He did not prove the law of gravity; it was confirmed.

It can work if the temperature does not drop too low but with this cold, I doubt it would work at all.

This shows where our apples are at right now. If they would not open we'd be okay but this cold is supposed to last through Monday night so I right now doubt we'll save them. But boy there are tons of blossoms. The peach blossoms have pretty much set. We'll see how those turn out later.

I really love how the apple blossoms are red before they open. One of my favorites. btw, this particular tree is a wild one; not one we planted but it feeds a lot of deer every fall. Sometimes we even get some apples for cider from this tree.

Made an early morning run to Menards. Had some returns and wanted the credit card charges reversed before the next billing cycle. Picked up a few supplies.

Once I got home. I replaced the fascia on 99 storage shed. It is on the side facing away from the house and while we were raking the yard, noticed the rot, so......

With her help, we got that taken care of. It was dry but still in the 30's and breezy. Nice to have that accomplished! :handshake:

Next will be a coat of paint once it is warm enough outside.

Also, fixed and repositioned the steps into the storage shed as this is where "Gretchen the groundhog" had decided to make one of her burrows. Since she is no longer a nuisance, took care of that as well as trying to fill in as best as I could the tunnels. Might be time for a basement fire and Netflix!

    Almost forgot.

Did something I do not normally do today. I bought a 5 1/2 lb package of hamburger from Aldi's. I repackaged it when I got home and pan fried up a 1/2 pounder for a "taste test". It did leave more grease in the pan that the place where I usually buy from, but it did taste good.

At just over $2 a lb, I think I'll get it again.

The least expensive burger I found locally this week is at 4.50 a lb and looked just as fatty as the Aldi's stuff.

Anyone else ever buy meats (burger) from Aldi's?

We have bought 85/25 Hamburg for years. For some reason we can only get 80/20 or 90/10 lately.
