Morning all. I hope to go out and clean up - restore - my old gardening bed today. My most noxious weed is horsetails. Apparently the soil isn't sweet enough to discourage them. I have had plastic over the garden for the last couple of years so I am hoping it doesn't look too bad when I pull it off. It has been warm and dry here for the last couple of weeks.

campinspecter is headed out for another load of firewood for Mom. I think he needs two more loads to fill the woodshed.

Probably drive from one side, the same way you do on the last pass using the tiller...

I highly doubt that laptop would have harmed the bourbon.

I had thought about buying one of those when they came out with them but didn't have the dollars available right then.

On the last pass? No, stand at the side all the time when tilling rather than walking in the freshly tilled ground. Foot prints make great places for weeds to grow in. Weeds will always come up first in the foot prints.

With a troy bilt tiller, walking beside the tiller is also the easiest way to do the tilling and really makes turning super easy.

Why would it matter, except on the last pass?
I suppose with how much sand you have in your soil there that maybe it doesn't take more than one pass to work things up nice...that's not so here, unless maybe if you are working up a garden area that gets hit with the Troy-Bilt every year, and especially if tilled more than once per year.
I've never owned a TB though...just admired the neighbors powdery fine garden soil that was TB'd...

Finally got one of our gardens tilled yesterday. Hopefully we can get some peas in the ground today.

Last night and this morning were not fun at all. Actually was some minutes of pure Hell. As many know, I'm waiting for some surgery on my neck. Well, during the night I woke up and must have been trying to roll over or something but my neck hurt really bad. I woke my wife and had her get a hot pack, pain pill and muscle relaxer. After about 2 hours I finally got back to sleep. Then this morning I woke up hurting even worse with a charley horse in the calf of my leg. Cramps can be painful but these things are unbelievable. Sadly, I get them from having polio. Now I find if I get off and on the tractor several times it will bring them on. Geeze, I need an elevator for getting on the tractor.

If you've ever run a troy bilt you'd understand that it is easier to walk along beside the tiller rather than behind it.

I do double till but do it all with the first pass. Just overlap; till half width of tiller with other half working ground already tilled.
