Got a foot of wet nasty hard to move snow overnight. Lost power at 2 am and still out. Told the wife last night we should just shut the boiler down and let the oil kick in for the night. Good thing, I put new smoke alarms in and they don’t beep when the power goes out. Never would have woke to go start the generator and swap the power over. Been 3 hours trying to get my driveway somewhat opened, shoveled out a spot for the generator, and clean the decks off so we could get out the doors. Went to get some generator gas. Roads are a mess, trees everywhere broken off, some roads barely passable, nobody around has power. One place runs on generator so I was able to get gas. Going to take today off now, boiler running and heating house, garage and water for a shower. TV works but no internet. Guess I’ll make some breakfast.

We got about an inch and half. So was hoping we were done with this stuff. And it's still snowing.

Got a bradford pear in the front yard that has a big fork about 5' off the ground that's showing a good bit of rot and cracking. One branch of the fork is leaning right for the house and can reach it. After the wind we got two nights ago I'm not feeling good about keeping it around.

I'm thinking this will be this evening's project....want to get it quick before it gets too leafy and harder to deal with.

Before I get back to cutting my way through some more I decided to take a few more pictures of the progress.

Starting at that clump of Soft Maple again.

Turn to the right. And time to cut up some junk blow downs and small standing stuff so I can weave my way through with the tractor and cut the brush and saplings. 19168821-F916-4111-9117-B18330795967.jpeg
Time to get at it. To hell with COVID-19!:BrianK:

Woke up to soaking fog drizzle. campinspecter still went out to get firewood. Where he was, was in the sunshine. Lucky him. I hope it lifts as I would like to get some gardening done. Made soup this morning, did a load of laundry, kept the wood boiler going (I think the tank is up to temp now), shredded some office files from 2004 and now I am trying to motivate myself to do bookwork and NOT surf FHC. I'll get there.
