Geez..........................try to inject a little brevity to the old "my truck is better than your truck" game and it tightens right up and gets serious. Horkn, relax Bud , ALL of the truck manufactures build "Chit" boxes every day. Honest !!!!!! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

??? Why would I want to do that? I read on chevy forums that those who leave the AFM engaged will get better mpg. Curious to what reasons you have for disengaging it.

I didn't include it earlier, but when I test drove the ford and the chevy, I re-set the mpg meter so it would only read the mpg during the test drive. I did both highway and secondary roads during both test drives, cruise on and cruise off, driving in conditions like I would be doing if I had owned it. The best the ford could muster was 19.1 mpg while the chevy broke 24.1 mpg. If anything, the weather was identical.

Last day of gorgeous weather and then we will get rain again. Of course it will be for my week off. It has been really nice for our walks in the mornings.

Oh you believe the lie-o-meter, huh?
Until you manually verify the accuracy of your mileage gauge, don't swear by it, they can be a good bit off...then you'll swear at it

I was able to get into the garden yesterday afternoon. One bed is still snow covered where the sun hasn't worked on it yet, and my compost pile is still frozen. I had all my winter's worth of fish remains under a big canvas tarp covered with snow. Yesterday I noticed a faint odor so buried all of it...spread out over the four beds I was able to dig into.

It is 19f now but later they are saying 40f so I will get out there again and cut back the dead asparagus ferns. The little garlic fronds were poking up through the leaf mulch in their beds. That was good to see.

I like the way those Siverados ride yooperdave, nice truck. Last weekend I rode around in my buddy's 2014 high country and it was really quiet and comfortable.

AFM causes lots of problems with the engine mechanicals.

C'mon man, give me some credit! I have been alive far too many decades and driving all but one of them to know that! It is as close of a MPG comparison I could gauge.

First off, I would have preferred the ford over the chevy. IMO, all the manufacturers have their problems. Just view any of their owners forums.
And its not like I'm going to have the oval or bow tie tattooed on my arm, right?

The truck to me is nothing more than a tool and I'm looking for one that will be dependable and lasting. If the engine craps out due to lifters problems (AFM related) it is covered with the powertrain warranty.

And most importantly, if after a few months, I don't like it, then its trade in time. :handshake:

I have read that also. Issues with the lifters specifically. Shutting the AFM would require more than just a re-program of computer.

I wasn't saying the Chevy was wrong and the Ford was right...could be the other way, could both be wrong...and I have no idea if you realize those things are not always real accurate...many people think since the numbers come from a "computer" that they speak gospel truth.
Hopefully it works out well for you and you don't need to trade it in since that would mean thousands lost due to the whole "retail/wholesale" thing...that, and paying tax to the state on the transaction...again :makeitrain"

I could be wrong, but I believe that it is as simple as a computer programmer.

Yup...................have it on mine. Simply plug it in to your diagnostic port. If you want to go back to it simply unplug it. I've run it both ways and my mileage difference isn't worth even discussing, but it did do away with the lifer ticking on start up.

We have had some gorgeous weather to be gardening but I have been working. Here crocuses are out, snowdrops are over, daffodils starting to bloom and I picked parsley for my salad yesterday. All my rose bushes are budding so I think I have missed the pruning window. The big overgrown rose bush I will probably cut back anyway as it grows like a weed.

No flowers here for sure. Temperature in teens this morning. But some frogs did wake up this week so there is hope. But of course they have to get froze up 6 times before spring is really here.
