I don't think what is going on with China will affect trucks too much. We'll see. That said, yeah... Seeing that I deal with buying components globally, it's already affecting some things. I recall years ago when working for a German company with parts sourced from Europe, that the pigments that came from Japan that were completely stopped from the Fukushima reactor disaster totally shut down our production. The look on my ( German) Manager's face was priceless when I told him this. Also that reminded me of this same manager's reaction when I told him that our sea shipment from Germany wasn't going to make it in time because hurricane Sandy shut down all of US customs ports on the Eastern seaboard. It was like watching an old movie with Nazis in it. Ahh fun times.
There are other brands available besides the filson one. Otter wax; duck back; Greenland wax; trilanco gold label; are a few.
A question on the CB radio in the FJ, can I unplug the mic? I won't be till this summer to do more repairs on it but that thing is in my line of vision for driving.
Depending on the setup of that 2019 f 150, its not such a bad price. But I here you on WTH happened? Right now, it's a sellers market for trucks. I also spent the day looking at trucks form the "big 3" and did not pull the trigger. (2017's)
Seeing as you never cease to disappoint with a certain spelling, I decided to lend a helping hand....
Hate to read this man.... especially the young one’s passing. We never know when someone’s time is up, or why some rush the clock themselves.
I pull on the mic cord and it has a rubber boot. Did not want break the CB. Great idea! There is a slot to hang it but the looped cord is worse so for now it hangs down. I'll try again tomorrow, then again I also have duct tape..... Maybe I should start a separate thread on this silly but cool ride. I am too! Especially on groceries! x2 Beetle-Kill .
wildwest Can you remove the entire CB from where it is mounted? The only things plugged into the back would be power and the antenna cable. You should be able to look more closely at the mic and see how it is attached. What do you wee when you lift the rubber boot from the mic?
You are right, get the whole thing down would be better for now. There's a reason it's there, we only live a few miles apart and only recently got 1 bar of cell service..... But for now it's in my way of sight. If I could unplug and take the whole thing down it will still be here if we reinstall it in the future. Thanks, I did not peel back the boot like Erik mentioned above. I will tomorrow!
The mic connector is typically a screw on end. You need a 4 wire connector for it, 2 for keying and 2 for audio. In my younger days I worked for a Motorola service shop and we handled mainly commercial style radios like for police, ambulance, fire dept's etc.
