Definitely not a Midwest thing....lots of wood stoves and fire places out here in the heartland.

Finished putting up a fence that screens an area at the processing site where I dump my small limbs. Neighbors have been clearing out some trees and tall grass so I thought I would help out the litter critters like rabbits and moose.

One of my neighbors is a bit of busy body so I figured maybe this would keep it from looking too unkempt.

The posts were salvaged after an old fence was taken down.

Cut 4 loads this morning then hauled the splitter over to dad's and split about a cord for him. I think I'm done cutting until spring. Got 6 cord put up this month. Time to get back to some projects.

Stinny, like you with that tractor and grapple, as I get a little older I try to do what my neighbor told me to do a long time ago. He said you have to try and use your mind more and your muscles a little less. A steady supply of caffeine helps too. upload_2014-11-2_7-14-6.jpeg He was good with machinery. A welder/fabricator/rigger all rolled in to one. But the guy could work with wood, metal, plastic..... just about anything. And could figure out how to do something in ways some others could not. It was kinda uncanny, for lack of a better term. Really a good man and his wife a good women. I know your work ethic, and it is like many others on here. Off the charts compared to many. As long as we can take our time, work safe, and keep ourselves from getting injured it will all be worth it in the end. I look at it as getting ahead while the getting is good. When I get to the point where I don't want to work as hard, I can then enjoy walking/hiking through the woods more! And relaxing by the fire in between those walks.:fire:

Yesterday we went over to my MIL. I hung 8 blinds for her and she cooked us a rib roast.

    Today is first fire.

For sure, a month and a half ago he was fretting about getting the pad poured this year. A little organization and a network of good friends goes a long way. If the weather holds, we should have her buttoned up before winter hits...............What really helped us yesterday was that one buddy has a big farm and has a 4wd New Holland Zoom Boom that reaches up and out 35'. Saved a Chit load of ladder work.

Today is going to be getting some odds and ends done. First comes enclosing the porch this morning. That should take a couple of hours at a leisurely pace after breakfast. Going to relax at camp for a few hours and have lunch with the fam down there. I also need to clean the bench off in the garage and make it ready for my next project. I need to build some stake side racks for the back of the truck sooner or later.

Major storm off the coast of Nantucket and heavy winds inland. I may have some downed trees to deal with this after this storm with the 40mph and up winds. 36'F and sitting here with my honey, being grateful for the gifts we have received over the years.

The Fireview will keep the house warm while we go out for breakfast and then to Worcester where we have tickets for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Hanaford Hall. (music composed by the same guys that did Hair). They rock the house is what I've heard.

I have plastic panels that I bought at Lowes two years ago. See through and have the round "ribs" for strength. If I remember right they are about 22" wide. You can put a screw threw them with a screw gun easy and I brace them with some 1x3 strapping where needed to stiffen them up. Works great. Big covered porch that I got sick of shoveling snow off. They come down in spring to give us the open porch we like the other three seasons. I'll see if I can snap some pics. I got wrangled into going for a walk with the wife, so I'll be starting around 10:45 if I'm lucky. LOL

Polycarbonite sheets... more commonly known as Lexan brand, for flat stuff... most sign faces are made of it... very stuff stuff. Think 1/2" thick hockey rink surround... tho it can get somewhat brittle in colder temps. That's cool stuff you've got Gas. Bet it does a good job for ya.

You mentioned using screws to install. Be sure to drill larger holes, as it says on the info sticker, for those screws to allow for expansion. The stuff will crack at every screw if you don't.
