How about you go to the corporation that employs the plow company, and state your case. The company might even have a simple form to file and they'll just pay for the repairs.

The answer is always no unless you ask.

Sun was out today. Warm enough to melt the ice on the tar, so I went out (wife drove) to go sign my income taxes. The good news is I didn't have to pay in, and that I have enough taken out so next year looks good. I don't understand how some retired folks don't have to file income taxes. Even when they don't have to pay, I would have assumed that they at least have to file. I follow the rules on taxes, nothing to claim so it is fairly obvious that I am not trying to hide anything. One of the reasons I have my taxes professionally done by a well known tax service.
Anyway, it is always nice to have them done and out of the way.

Yup, still an uphill battle though.
If it were easy to sue the government, every joe shmoe looking for his next handout would do it, taxes would be 100% and government still broke...not a good idea.

I would contact the municipality and see if it was one of their plows. Where I live I’ve had my mailbox taken off the post by the town plow. The first time they sent a crew out and they replaced. A couple weeks ago they knocked it off again and I wasn’t going to wait so I just had to reattach it to the post with a $5 base.

It’s not easy to like this one, and I’m curious as to why there was no recourse for the family?

I just read the other posts and I believe counties and states have liability insurance, or they are self insured. Seems totally unfair. I feel for that family.

For those that don't have any income besides SS, or make very minimal $$ on top of SS, the law says they don't have to file Federal ($$ amount depends on if single or married). Those that aren't retired also have a $$ threshold before they have to file. Of course if they have taxes taken out, then it would be to their advantage to file and get a return.

Morning hoarders! Freeways slick and slow moving I just parked at work. It’s big fluffy flakes at home and small flakes here at work in Lansing MI. It’s currently 32F and they say it’s going to be 10F by 12pm.

Stay safe and don’t drive like me... :whistle:

Another non-event or at least almost a non-event with the snow storm. Now 2 days of cold followed by a warm-up.
