No. The office work is cake.
Can’t find mechanics so I get stuck doing it all.
Bought 2 almost new for expansion and this last one is low mileage replacement for my front runner that has 650000 miles. This way I can get about 5 years running without any major maintenance that requires a full time mechanic. The labor pool sucks the last 10 years. I’ve had guys that were right out of Ohio diesel tech that couldn’t even change a piggyback brake chamber.

How many quarts does it take? Can you use aftermarket fluid?

It’s takes 1.8 quarts I’m doing research on ford specs now. The oil is sludge and I’d think somebody came out with a decent performance oil for this transmission by now. It’s looking very much like ford cornered the market for this oil though...

Redline dctf is the closest I can find and it doesn’t meet the factory specs.:picard:

It’s not a huge deal but the way these cars grenade the dual clutch auto transmissions I would like to change the oil more often just because especially after seeing what it looks like after 20k miles...

Isn't your car ( fiesta?) Covered under the repair and replace with a traditional torque converter auto trans? I thought all of the dct's in foci and fiesta's were going to get the new tranny all on Ford's dime?

We purchased it a few months ago used 2011 model and it had already had the clutchs replaced it runs great as of now but has learned bad habits and does shift a little hard at times. So I checked the fluid and man was it thick, burned and frankly looked and smelled like regular 80/90 so I called the ford dealer near us to ask if they could look at the history of the vin. They did that and said the fluid change wasn’t done by ford which is contrary to the car fax and vehicle Maint reports we pulled before buying it. Come to find out it was done in Ontario by a ford dealer.

Long story short no it won’t be covered if something goes wrong according to the dealer and ford won’t respond to the dealer on the topic nor honor any claims... The exact words of the dealer ( friend of mine ) was ford is doing their best to not keep their word. Which doesn’t really suprise me... I went down a similar road with a ford ranger years ago....

I called 3 other dealers and got the same response albeit not the same wording. Mostly for oil prices which where all the same but also to probe about the transmission issues.

The next step is to wipe and reset the transmission learned habits and re teach my driving habits so it stops hopping around like it’s on nos....

I think there was a lawsuit on those Ford DCT. They do grenade rather early. I would definitely change the fluid often if it is not under warranty. They must have the fluid made for them so you might be able to find it cheaper, unless they patented it.
