Well I'm done for today. I cut a little more wood up today, then we moved one truck load of our stuff under the porch. Then we had lunch and relaxed at camp for 2.5 hours. That was nice. Then I left them there to relax and kids played outside and Monopoly inside while I came up and split everything I had cut off and on in the last few days. Then stacked it. I'm beat! Almost four face cord ready for my brother though. I'm going to get everything put away now and I DO a have cold beer in fridge. I might even have two of them.:D

Very nice Jeremy. That is a picture that Norman Rockwell would have painted.

    Busy weekend for us!

Friday my wife was driving to work and heard a "clunk" and then soon after started smelling burnt rubber. Luckily she pulled over after a few blocks. Unfortunately the damage was done. Coil spring on the front strut broke, and dug into the tire, wrecking the sidewall.

The car was so low I had to start at the back axle with the jack and work my way forward because the jack couldn't fit under the frame! Got the spare donut on and limped home Friday night. Kind of started liking the LOWrider look but figured I better fix it for her.

Maybe I should have just tack welded that spring together? LOL. Got a new tire mounted yesterday afternoon and started working on it this morning.

With 180,000 on the old Malibu and with us trying to hold off buying a new car for a couple years I went ahead and put new struts and springs on the front and also put new rotors and pads on while I had it torn apart. It looked so nice I was sorry I had to put the tire on.

Saturday we made the two hour trip to Omaha to pick up a new (to us) stove from my bride's sister. She bought a new one and offered the old one to us. She is very concerned about keeping up with the Jones so they always seem to be getting to toys. We gladly accepted and I helped them set up the new stove they bought.

We brought it back and had to rewire the receptacle for the new stove. Installed, we were shocked to see that it seemed almost new. Apparently my sister-in-law almost exclusively orders out or uses the microwave for cooking.

With the car done I finished up stacking a rack of shoulder wood, just in time as we've had a morning fire each of the last two days.

Finished decorating for Halloween and cleaning kitchen to match the nice new stove. Time for some Tylenol and a beer.

Hope everyone had a great day too!

Thanks rottiman, I decided to stack it to be sure I get plenty there for him. When the rounds were piled I was thinking I had at least 4 face cord. Now that it is split and stacked, I can see I am shy on that. Luckily when I am done, he has an advantage. He has a nice dump trailer. He can back right up and have his boys help him throw it all in. Tandem axle fifth wheel dump.

Got a few oak splits going in the big metal box in the basement to take the chill out.

Cut two more cart loads of wood today...Most of which were small enough to go right in the stack. I think I got nearly 5.5 cord cut and stacked this week....along with a ton of other small projects...and a short trip with the family.

Back to the day job tomorrow.

5.5 cords c/s/s in a week? My body aches for you. That's impressive.

5 hours today and only half installed the boundary wire for an electric dog fence. The $50 little edger I bought has easily paid for itself.

16' :) Triple pane and special glaze for max solar gain . Yes it was a struggle to get it installed correctly by the window company, but my GC made some adjustments then furred out, and its sealed with exp foam and well insulated ontop of that.

I can't say if this is only Colorado, but we went old style rustic solid oak in my previous home. It contracted in the winter regardless of how many humidifiers we ran. I have relatives that used "engineered" hardwood in the same state and they never had an issue. Thought it might help.

Took the firebrick out of the stove tonight as they were all junk. Going to replace them and the door gasket before the big show starts. 30 bricks!!! Most need cut too. Such is life.

Gorgeous weather this week...but stuck in the office all week. Boo.
