i did some car work this afternoon. Rotated the tires on the wife's Pilot and checked the tranny fluid level on the new Tacoma (at 2200 mi).

why did I do that? The Tacoma's come with one of those "sealed" never check transmissions with no dipstick (BS). Toyota buys the tranny from Asin Warner and they are supposed to check the level in the factory when installing it. On the Tacoma owners boards there are a lot of stories of trans trouble and people find they where coming low on fluid from the factory. If you go to the dealer you will get the "its sealed" runaround so to be safe I got the procedure to check it myself. Requires tricking the OBD into a special temperature check mode and once warm you pull a special level check plug on the pan and look for a drip.

Sure enough, mine was a bit less than a half quart low. Brand new.

Disappointed in Toyota :( but at least I caught it before any long term damage was done.

Gotta clean the chimney tomorrow. Won't be long now before I have to wake the stove up.

Gonna try to get two more loads cut and hauled tomorrow too. That will put me in good shape to get 17/18 wood done this fall and 18/19 started late winter.

LOL, the blue window outside was our "door" last winter. Darling doggies still ask to go outside that way even though the door is gone :) The story I heard was the renters had a horse that came in and was fine, but panicked on the way out. Steel door torqued:dennis: it was not fun in subzero temps and high winds..............

Different forum, about 5 years ago. Converted an old smoke dragon to secondary air. I've sent pics. to a dozen people over the years, don't know if anyone actually did the conversion though.

Could have built a platform of pallets and anchored it to that as well.

Our old Schrader was so much easier to clean. Easy roof access, and I only needed a few extensions on the rod, hope yours goes fast & easy.

Woke up to a driving rain, the wind kicking up from the NW and a dead battery in the car this morning.
First thing to happen was to fire up Ole' Black Betty (currently a very comfortable 72 in the house). Then got the car motivated and took the bride out to breakfast. Spent the afternoon doing the final yard clean-up as all the leaves and pine needles are now down. Currently vegetating in the lazy boy watching the Ohio State/Rutgers game. All is good.
