I'm not crazy about drugs either. But its non habit forming and knocks me out when I need it.

No hunting for me....but a co-worker hit a deer. Does that count? :)

I agree. I really like the 30.30 especially if a moving shot but that .308 has some strong stopping power. It is just a little harder to handle. I like the shortness of the 30.30. Both rifles have good scopes too and that helps a lot.

If I remember correctly I shot only one buck over 100 yards.

Is that .308 a bolt action?

My primary deer gun is a bolt action Ruger SS m77 in 7mm Rem mag with a decent scope on it. I bought that gun with summer work money after I graduated from HS. That's been a while I see, 25 yrs. Time flies. o_O
. I love that tack driver, but it's not the best for doing drives because it's long.
I could use my dad's BAR in 300 win mag, but that's a heavy, and pretty gun in safari grade. Too heavy and pretty to carry in the woods too far.

    I'm thinking a nice AR15 in a 7.62 x39, a .300BLK or .350 legend would make a great drive gun for deer.
