Yes, I have to remember when I'm chatting away here at 9 at night that it's 10 or 11pm for many members here.
Only got an hour and a half at the garage today. Dad called right after breakfast, his buddy got the moose. Had to pick dad up a half hour away and take him to the moose another hour and a half away and vice versa. Got the moose quartered skinned and bagged in 2 hours, not bad.
After shoveling out this morning, I talked 99 lbs into going on that Menards run. schlot we almost bought some laundry detergent! Ended up getting another shovel (among other stuff) and about 25 minutes before we got home, the weather reared its ugly head. Slowed down, go home, and put the new shovel to work right away!
Yup, what's in the Rio is dads. The 2 back quarters. Dad has been with him most of the season, but took the long weekend off with his girlfriend. Jim got the moose a minutes walk from his truck, if that
I snowblowed the 2.6" of snow we got overnight and through mid day today. It only got to like 23° , but it's 20 now, and dropping. We could have record low temps the next 2 days. That wind is brutal though. Single digit wind chill now. I also used the sled to haul in a load of apple wood.
I have found some “interesting” things over the years in remodeling jobs. From questionable wiring, plumbing, carpentry, and animals like a squirrel we found in an exterior wall hanging by his teeth in an electric wire for outlets. He had been dead a while! Thankful it didn’t start a fire. Let’s see what you find.
Managed to get all the plastics up this afternoon. I need to get something to roll down in front of this rear staircase, too much snow getting in. UGH. I think I’ve said that before and still haven’t done anything about it. It’s been a busy day that ended with signing up at a local fitness facility for a month with my son. Decent rate so we joined for one month to see how we like it. Worked out and then back home for dinner. Just a five minute drive. We both want to get into better/stronger shape. I have a feeling he is going to have an easier time getting there at 15 y.o.
Nope! The meetings at the bakery have been few and far between. Might be time to give my old partner a call!
We gutted the buck, dragged it to the truck (which wasn't going anywhere-thanks to me) and then started our trek. On the way out of the woods, we were shadowed by a wolf maybe a hundred yards or so in the woods that would let out a low howl every now and then. The thought of finding a partly eaten deer carcass in the back of the truck later that night occurred to both of us! But all was good. This was all in full darkness and snowing to beat the band.
