Sorry to hear that... That makes hunting miserable, especially when your minding your own business....

I have noticed that deer can easily identify hunting from non-hunting human behavior.

When I hunt on the ground I don't bother sneaking much at all other than not making unnatural sounds, and when slowing down around tracks that indicate leisurely behavior and feeding close to potential bedding areas.

I have had some nice bucks, including my biggest to date, walk right in to me on the ground after stopping, adding some soft grunts, and standing to carefully look around. These deer heard me walking into their area at the same pace as another buck on a mission.

From my stand sights during the rut I have heard bucks walking into view while breaking sticks, breaking ice near the shores or dams of beaver ponds, and sounding very similar to a human's steady walking cadence. They can be very loud when hunting in areas with little or no other human hunting pressure. Gets me fired up just thinking about those memories.

Always said that a running chain saw is like ringing a dinner bell for deer!

As far as all the other "fixes" or revenge tactics; remember that enacting any of those and you yourself are guilty of hunter harassment.

Get ahold of the person and talk to them face to face. About the noise, property lines, the theft, the inconsideration.

Every other hunter I talked with turned out very good.

These guys are like Stormtroopers from star wars. They can't hit anything.:) They also think theft and trespassing are legal. Unfortunately that's how the locals are up in the Northwoods.

In all honesty, that's what will happen. I'll talk with them opening day, right after dark. Both that new landowner that bought adjacent to my land, and my family had to spend a bit of money in legal fees because he was wrong about what he can or can't do as far as access. I'm sure he doesn't want any more issues. He was told what he did was not only illegal, but he was told by the judge that he had no basis to block access and that he was acting "like a jerk" and that he certainly didn't start off being a new neighbor the right way.

Dumbass took an excavator and made a huge dirt mountain, blocking my access road as soon as he bought the neighboring parcel. That was a few years ago.

Yes. I've talked with him before too. He talked all big, until I got out of my vehicle. Then he backed down. I've got that effect on guys that try to talk big when they are not face to face. This guy is older, probably mid 60's, short, fat and has a limp.

Needless to say, I'm not intimidated.

PS, I've got guns too. Both kinds ;).
