Im with you guys...3:30am here. It is supposed to hit 40f here today before a big cool down through next week. I plan on doing a little shopping for deer camp, then finishing up the yard...maybe a nap!

I just bought a clear plastic tarp to hang on the side of my porch for the same reasons as you are doing. I saw it used for that application and think I can use it the same way.

    And Gasifier

I do the same thing every fall with the screen porch at the cottage. You lose the view but it sure saves the screens (due to depth of snow) and it does heat up in there real nice on sunny days.

Got 2 windows in the garage, 3 more just ready for the glass to be installed, and a more permanent foundation started. Hopefully a good days work tomorrow sees those items completed as well as the siding. Only had a few hours available today. Also have dad's help this weekend at the expense of his girlfriends presence once finished for the day.

Hang in there. Think of it as respecting his choice.

Came in early from hunting. Got disgusted with neighbor. Seems he is on a kick this fall to ruin other's hunting by running atv's during hunting hours. He is mainly aiming at someone else but he is ruining it for me too. Disgusting.

My tree stand was stolen this summer from my private 80 acres. I know who did it.

I'm thinking of ruining his hunting weekend for gun deer. It would ruin my weekend too, hunting wise, but I can deal with that.

I remember hunting long before ATVs. I have one, but the only time it is fired up is to haul out a deer I have dragged to a tote road...typically after dark.

    We
got a guy with just a pasture, and guess where his tree stand is? Right on the property line. I know he is shooting deer on us and co I got onto the property without asking, which is forbidden, even if you had a wounded deer go from yours to the neighbor.

I am contemplating a battery operated alarm radio and let music kick on before sunrise.

My experience with ATVs and deer is that the deer don't care one bit. We used to go shining deer with ATVs, or even my ariens garden tractor. You could get much closer to deer on one of those than on foot.

Where we hunt the deer don't hear or smell ATVs regularly during the entire year, except when we operate them during deer season, typically after dark. I am so used to not hearing them where we hunt that the sound of them during hunting hours would seem out of place. On my stand sight close to the cabin it would not be much fun hunting there if my nearest neighbor was buzzing around with an ATV. It would ruin it for me, even if the deer don't care about them. I like to hear nothing but nature, including the deer.

Old deer hunting trick that works in this area is to take a chain saw with you and start it up and run it for a little while, then shut it off and sit down to wait. Deer here are attracted to bush operations because the tops left off of tree cutting are a food source. Especially effective near cedar and pine and oak stands. They are curious enough to be seen when the saw is running.

I had a couple watching me stack wood yesterday. Once I noticed them, I was as loud as possible and they didn't care. I'm going out in a few minutes to see what I can get besides cold.
