Good idea. I am going to do a complete re-gasket on this, except for the ash pan. I am going to redo the secondary assembly too, as it looks loose.

I am looking forward to the longer burn times and getting an extra split in there.

image.jpg Heading to my second job shortly. I got a permit to work on the holiday so I'm sure the neighbors that are home today won't be too happy with the sound of nail guns and saws. We are 3 weeks into a 10 week frame, coming along nicely.

The pic was taken on day 3, this will be a 40x 60 3 decker condo building

Our first really wet and windy weekend and of course it is a holiday weekend. Sitting here trying not to get sidetracked by FHC and get some bill paying done. Campinpsecter is running the boiler and his suggestion of steaks for lunch was great. Yesterday we wore our new FHC shirts to the Thanksgiving family gathering and got our picture taken again. Stopped in a store on the way home and got a few comments on the shirts. Definitely an "in day" today.

I cleaned up the Castine today. This stove was a filthy mess. I went through it with a Sooteater in the firebox, then a wire brush. I sealed up some areas where loose stove cement popped out and painted the rear interior fire back plate. I went over the whole stove with a soft toothbrush and warm water and rag dried it off. It just needs some new gaskets and it should be ready to go. The glass is off kilter in the door and barely clipped in place on one side. I only saw two stains on the enamel on the top plate which are really minor. She cleaned up nice.

Sitting here watching "The Count" and his boys work their magic on some cars and the like while I have a cold drink. This is my relax time after 10 hours of work today and then spent another 1-1/2 hours doing the bills. So while watching the TV I see another Stihl commercial. They have expanded their commercials in this area. I enjoy them much better than some of the other commercials this time of year!:zip::zip::zip::zip::zip::zip::zip::zip::zip::zip::zip::zip:

Had my first self taught (well internet helped) course on vinyl siding repair today. I lucked out and got 2 good pieces from a 10 foot length that had a crack on 1 end and a hole on the other-fixed 2 other small damage areas with a perfect color match. The piece I bought for the 10 foot replacement was close enough in color to not have to steal a piece from behind the garage-a very unexpected bonus after 15 years of sun fade

Funny thing is I didnt spring for the extra cost of "premium" colors 15 years ago but it appears to have faded into a premium color now. Luckily I bought only a few lengths and needed only 1 so I have some spares around now for possible future repairs.

Looking good Fish. Your new to you used F400 reminds me of my F500 from last year, I burned in mine for 6 years. Great looking stoves.
