I saw one a couple of evenings ago - it was mostly brown with a little bit of black at each end. Thought about getting my camera for a picture, but decided to just watch it for a while as it motored across the back yard - they ain't slow for being so small.

Up and time to get a few things ready for a concrete pour. Contractor will be here at 7:30ish to get ready for 8:30ish concrete arrival. Pouring a slab in front of the barn that will function as a nice work surface and a basketball court for the kids. Hopefully all goes well.

I'm up too. I guess I'm on East coast time still. If the weather holds out, I'll split firewood today m Badgers play at noon ( or is it 11??) So it'll be fun to watch the game on my big TV in my house on my couch.

I bought a new waterproof boat cover that I put over my existing canvas cover that after 19 years somehow lost its waterproofing at the beginning of the season. It was fine before we left. 2 weeks later it has several rips in it. It appears that it simply is just falling apart. Weird. I'll look through my receipts and see if it has some sort of warranty. I think it had a several year warranty. At worst I'll write a bad review on it. It was a trailerable cover, and it wasn't even used for that. Just sitting in the driveway.

I haven't slept later than 4:30 for the last week or so. I hate when I get into these stretches

Got about half the lawn mowed before the Badgers game started. Should have enough gas to mow the rest without having to go into town to get more. The big issue may be that is supposed to rain about 1 pm. So... We'll see.

And I am getting ready to watch my Hawkeye's. Chaz is out taking care of fall work that needs to get done before the white stuff show's her head. Did get down to 33 overnight. Chaz started out first fire last night about 8 and I am pretty sure didn't add any more wood. I threw 3 more chunks on about 6 this morning. Feels good in here.

That game looks almost as ridiculous as the Badgers steamrollering of Kent State.

Rain is holding off until 3pm, supposedly. I'll get out and finish mowing since the Badgers just scored again with all the backups in. 48-0 with 14 minutes to go..

Ok, finished the lawn and it started raining lightly as I mowed. It gradually started raining harder. After mowing, I attempted to haul and split a little wood. Not much done on either front.

I split a few pieces of wood. A resplit of ash that cut and split last fall was at 19%, and a resplit of silver maple from the year before was at 17%. I burned some wood from these two piles over summer for campfire wood and it was awesome, so I expected these results. Hopefully I can get at least one of these piles up to my patio stack this weekend for burning this year.

A several pieces of ash that was taken down from the neighbor in May and I chunked into rounds then but not split were at 27% MC once split today. I won't burn that until next year. A piece that I had from this same tree that was left in the garage as a wheel stop for my truck was a round until today. It measured 22% once split.

I also think I have a solution to my patio stack now that we have new siding and the piece of plywood can't touch the siding like it could with the old aluminum siding.

I'll use these brackets I have. The long side is 4' and the short side is ~2'. So I'll leave the long side down and the short side as the uprights. There's holes to put bolts through.

Now I could put the piece of plywood on the inside, or outside of the Elbow. Hmmmm I just can't have the plywood or the metal brackets fall over and hit the siding. Put together like a fence, I can have this a few inches off of the siding.

Had some hail come out of nowhere this afternoon. Just for a few minutes. Could feel the heat off the sun then all of a sudden it gets black and there's hail falling. Then a very quick shower, then the sun came back out.
