Leave on a high note, and don't burn any bridges. If the benefits are better at the new place, everyone will understand.

I remember that feeling...when I was leaving my first full time job after 7 years there...was totally caught off guard by the range of emotions that came...especially since I hated the job by that point.
Best of luck to you with your new position...hope it works out better for you than it did for me when I bailed out of the aforementioned job...I guess I shouldn't really say that though, because its all good now...I bounced around for a while, getting a whole range of experience, and that experience was directly the reason I was able to get my current position...which I have been at 13 years now, and still love it (most days ;))

Thanks all. Working as a technician at a dealership is a non stop grind. Production at all cost. I don’t think that I’ll be able to perform the tasks asked of me to retirement and there is no room for advancement. I’m trying to stay on the high road and explain that I’m doing what’s best for my family but it is hard for people to put emotions aside.

The new gig has better hours, pay and benefits. Pension even. Much more relaxed work environment.

The uncomfortable conversation went fairly well. People seem to be accepting that I’m trying to do what is right for my family. At least to my face...

Finally the end of a loooong week. I mailed it in for most of it, they took plenty of minutes off my life the past 9 days.

Went to Molly's house and loaded up on oak & birch, then dragged my splitter home. Got half the truck unloaded into the shed, and called it enough, time to shower and play with my daughter.

Well, I think exactly 0 things went according to plan this week. Been par for the course at work lately though, so I'm not surprised. Two more weeks on the road ahead of me then this project should be pretty much wrapped up.

About to fire up the grill for some venison and pork burgers, taters, and veg. Got to counterbalance the grill tools in my right hand by adding some liquid barley ballast in my left. Safety first, ya know.

They are but 5 min. from where they live now, Maybe an even shorter drive. Only challenge is the the road they are on has a lot of hill to it. But I can approach the hill from another end that is more gradual in the incline.
