You got time, it's the perfect season to handle the small projects.
If the cold shows up, lite it up, and then finish up your projects.
I enjoy the fall for construction, my fav time of the year.

+1 on favorite time of the year. From end of September through the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years is my favorite time of the year. Great for working outside! Then the real cold hits and snow gets deep and I am usually ready for spring. :shiver:

Today I managed to skip out of a work a bit early, hoping to get the final grass cutting done (its wicked long). Well wouldnt you know it, after driving thought unusually bad mid afternoon traffic, dragging out the mower, shapening up the blade for a nice low cut... 5 minutes into the job the self propel mechanism broke.

    C%(*$%

Well, not to be deterred I push mowed the whole thing. Tiring but manageable. Afterwards I decided better just tear it down and figure out what the deal is... The self propel had been acting up all summer, not changing speeds much and sometimes the drive wheels lock up when backing up (drive released). I had been expecting to find the transmission bad or a snapped belt (or both) based on the symptoms but I lucked out. After I got all the undershrouds removed from the deck so I could get to the drive mechanism I found that the entire works where clogged up with grass (which was blocking the split pulley speed selector from adjusting) and that the lack of power was because a rock got lodged in the transmission side pulley and popped the belt off.

Cleaned it all out and ordered a new belt for good measure and hopefully I'll be back in business this weekend.

  Not laughing at your problems with your mower. They can be a pain in the arse. But I was laughing because I thought I was bad about not keeping the top of the deck cleaned off. Your description just made me feel a little better anyway.  Glad you found the problem man!

Push mowing the lawn. Phhhhhh. Your just trying to meet your neighbor down the street. upload_2014-10-7_19-25-47.jpeg

I was working on replacing the top plate and door gasket on the F3. My son wanted to help. He set the gaskets really well.

Just a little gasket twist here and there, but a fine job.
