Heard from son about grandson that is in Army basic training. My grandson nailed the 350 yard or so target first shot and backed it up on the next 2. I knew he would do good on the range. My wife said he will get a marksmanship ribbon. He has been shooting since he was 7. DS made him mentor for the whole group. There was one soldier that couldn't hit a barn door and blamed my grandson for it. My grandson told the DS what he instructed and told him he "couldn't help it if the guy was to stupid to learn. " I guess DS liked his responds and smoked the whole group except our grandson. . My grandson told DS that he would do the smoking also. I guess he is finally figuring out what the intimidation is all about. Very proud of him. Graduation is a month away and can't wait. Finished canning the spaghetti sauce from yesterday. Got seven quarts and a little left over for a meal. Made V8 juice today. Well really V4 juice. Tasted pretty good. Again 7 quarts canned and about a quart left over for drinking.
I was on the same ranges just last week. Well the cold side of them. Construction projects going on around them. I was Looking at the area before hand.
Marshel54 most can't.. My a Army buddy has his 5 -14 year olds practice a lot. My mom was NRA classified as a sharp shooter both uncle and BIL have gotten 300 yards open sight military weapon ribbons, usually 30-06.. Being able to hit target is good!!
Are you hauling that trailer with the Jeep? Those short wheelbase 2 door wranglers can only tow 2000 lbs. Edit: my old roomie before I met my wife had a 97 TJ Wrangler. We towed my 3000 lb or so Ski Nautique a short 10 mile distance on 45-55 mph roads and it was scary. TJ and JK short wheelbase 2 door Jeep's have the same 2000 lb tow capacity. It's the short 2door wheelbase that is the limiting factor. When they made the 2 door unlimited model that was a longer wheelbase, it could tow almost twice as much weight at 3500 lbs. That's the same as the newer 4 door Jeep's.
It seems to happen here about every couple of years. I think it is because we only have one line source supplying this end of the island. Ucluelet and Tofino on the west coast have had a couple of shutdowns as well. Some planned, some not. There again, only one line source for power.
I was wondering the same thing!! For no more than that old Forest Service truck was worth I would of kept it to haul with beat on and pick up things that you need a truck for.
Sitting in the local hardware store parking lot waiting for it to open. Have some plumbing repairs to do before heading in to work. Gotta love owning a house!
Contemplating what winter prep to do this weekend. Might start stacking splits onto the back porch and maybe give the flue a sweep. Then again if it gets into the 80s I might just ditch those ideas until the following weekend.
