Got these posts in reverse order . Our Pastor is short on firewood and dry wood is hard to come by , he is really busy and has gotten behind on his firewood supply , though he is very capable of cutting his own he was a West Coast Faller before his calling to be a minister.

This load came from an area with a active single lane haul road with pull outs every 1/4 to 1/2 mile apart , so I wanted to be going out with the empties not going out against loaded logging trucks . Not much fun trying to back up in a hurry with the wood splitter behind the pickup . The cross ditch in this picture the camera makes it look a lot better than it is .

The camera made it look a lot darker than it really was .

Out to the road and off the ground for bucking .
    100_2335.JPG
This log had a lot of dirt ground into it surface on top , but with under bucking the chain fared well no need to file.Didn't get all of this log onto this load so went out again this morning for the rest .

Very fine grained old growth Douglas Fir and dry about 17% moisture content.

The finished load at home ready to go to the Pastors house. 100_2341.JPG
Forgot to take pictures of the off loading .But it did happen.

Going to bring some firewood into the garage. Supposed to rain tonight and most of the day tomorrow, with highs in the 40s on Saturday. I see a fire or two in my future.

Thats some nice looking wood there... shame to make it into firewood. Im suprised they would leave something like that and not take it to mill into lumber.

Distances to manufacturing facilities are too far. Nearest mill is 300 miles away the majority of these logs are now milled in Japan, Indian, China, and USA. So only the good logs go!

Up early today to meet some old friends for breakfast and a day out at our hobby airfield. Weather looks great but the kids kept me up half the night and I'm completely exhausted, not the best way to start the day.

We got 3" of rain last night. Temp is supposed to drop 25* in the next 12 hours.

My weekend is booked with the kids' soccer games and family gatherings...then on the road again to MD next week.

Things have a good chance of slowing down by next weekend though. Might even be able to make some firewood.

Can't wait to have a couple days off again. I need to start moving my firewood in under the porch. Maybe it will be dry enough on Monday.
