LOL Why cutting wood of course. But. Actually, I enjoy both. I usually wait until it is much colder to cut wood, but I have an itch to cut now. I will tire myself out by noon, then I can sit on the mower and relax. Just waiting for the bus to pick up the kids. Nice temps here. Almost looks like rain though. NOOOOO!

    Well....
That red paint on the stairs didn't work. Its too bright.

Not being in the mood to buy a third can I was talking to the hardware/paint store manager about darkening it. They are happy to do it for me but it will take some experimentation. Tomorrow we (I need the wife along to approve the color) might go down with a lot of paint chips and he is going to try out some options in the mixing computer to find one that the formula is close enough to figure the difference and manually add more pigments to the existing can. The first couple we talked about yesterday had more black and brown but less magenta so it wouldn't have matched the chip even if he added the extra color.

In other news its POURING rain today. We are predicted to get 2 inches by morning. I cant remember the last time I was this happy for a washout as we have only had something like 0.3in of rain all month which is supposedly the driest September since they started recording in the 1800s. the lawn, garden, trees, rivers and ponds all need the water.

Forecast is looking like a nice break Friday which is good as I'm taking the day off for our supposed to be annual fall breakfast meet and get together at the airfield :)... that we haven't done in a few years.

Oh and have I mentioned that cookies make me hungry @wildwest :D

Had some new carpet installed in the living room today. :) I forgot to take a pic with the old berber carpet in there. I know i know who covers up a floor like that but i like the feel of carpet under my feet when relaxing.

Carpeting is much better for our 4 legged friends . Slippery hardwood floors to them can be like walking on ICE .

I currently have all hard surface flooring, easier to clean here with mud (haha, 1/2 our house is subfloor at the moment!) BUT I had a shephard mix that lived 16 years, and we had carpet in that home. While taking her to vet hospital visits I would bring a 3' x 5" rubber backed bath rug as she could not stand on the slippery tile at the hospital anymore. Complete with her name and case file # in sharpie pen on the back!! A new team tried to take her on a stainless roller cart once while refusing her rug. It was only a few minutes before the tech returned to get her rug...

Don't feel so bad, my second floor doesn't even have a subfloor.. there are a couple spots where the boards where sanded to thin you feel like you might fall through.

We have wood flooring throughout (much of it is old growth softwood) and we use large area rugs in every room to break things up.

I'll go with that as I got into the mead I'm working on. I racked it from the fermenter into a couple of carboys so of course I had to sample what was left in the autosiphon.

I fixed my stair color problem!!

Digging around in the basement I found a half can leftover of the paint that the PO had used for the stairs prior. Its just a premixed BenMoore floor paint color called country redwood. I put one coat of that over the bright red we had and its perfect as this shade is darker and has less magenta and more brown hues in it.

You cant see it well in the photo but in person the difference is dramatic. Once I get the rest of the blue treads done it will look great all red.

Drywall guys just finished up hanging and taping the living room. I'm normally a DIY guy buy they do it so fast and cheap I don't mind paying someone else to do it. They'll be back tomorrow to texture the ceiling and hopefully we get this house put back together.
