Excellent reminder for Linked, me, and everyone! We have been trying to do more with the kids while taking more time to smell the bacon. I mean, roses. Mmmmmm, bacon and eggs for breakfast.

That sounds real good for you. I think you have your priorities straight, and I totally understand about wanting a guaranteed amount of money per month. I think trying to be on call a few days a week is a good idea. Show your ability, willing to work etc and make some side money and be able to do the recovery aspect. I do understand the want to do the challenging recoveries besides just winching up a driving car and dropping it off

As a dad now, that about brings tears to my eyes reading that.

I have to tell my self the same thing. I work for an employer (not self employed). But like us all I have projects, and the house. I have a separate property, the one I live on to maintain, vehicles to maintain, personal projects and firewood, and two days a week to do it. I try to include him in things no matter how slow it makes me complete them. I also try to take breaks and quit before I want to, to play with him.

Didn't go for our walk this morning as it is blowing and raining and campinspecter is fighting off a summer cold. We need the rain this summer so hard not to complain about it. Our daughter and SIL are going kayaking again next week so I hope the weather is nice for them.

Getting some rain here this morning as well. Sitting around visiting with my wife, daughter, and son-in-law. I cooked us all bacon, scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, and toast. Younger kids still sleeping. I mean. :( :D

Got 8 pallets in 3 days, not counting one I already had and one a delivery driver must have claimed before I got off yesterday. I estimate I'll need about 50 :)

Hot hot hot! Last 3 day have been.
Went out and cleaned up the terminals on the 650jd have it on charge now. Have 4 nice red oaks and a few standing dead ash next door at my brother house. Waiting on fall. Pulled splitter into place by the woodpile. Stacked a few limbs( I hare Bradford pear) hope to get tractor starting so I can bring som chunk a over to work down. Now just propping the foot up drinking semisweet tea.

Wood always heats you twice, unless you rehandle like I do then it’s four or five times!

Absolutely. Sometimes the lesssons are quick to rebound from. Other times not so much.

I've got a friend, he was super busy all the time with out of town work. He was never home. His first marriage probably succumbed to this issue. He has been remarried since I've known him and he left his old job to supposedly be home more with his new blended family with a new job. Well... One year later, he's gone just as much if not more as his old job, and while his new job pays a lot more, the raise was more than the average salary in the US, he's never home to be with his family.

Now his 1 yr old motorcycle is for sale, his wife is never around and posts from a different city with her work, a lot.

Something tells me that they are separating.

It won't be a shock to us if that is the case.

Bottom line, all the money in the world is meaningless if you don't have your loved ones to spend time with.

    Fun place.
I miss a good shower on LI in the summer.
Hope there won’t be too many rain events next summer when we go up to visit some of my remaining family members. :handshake:

After sitting around for most of the morning, we all went up to have lunch with my Mother and Father today. She brings him home several days during the week for 3-4 hours for lunch and part of the afternoon. Great to see him. We all sat on the porch for an hour after we ate and had a good visit. After we returned home I took a nap for 45 minutes. Must of needed it. Then I went for a bike ride about 7.5-8 miles this afternoon. That felt good and was a little workout with some of those hills. Then I cut some grass on the Simplicity rider. Tonight, relaxing and another bonfire with the family. This will be the third :campfire:in three nights.:)

Had a big cherry branch come down in a storm yesterday. When I say big it was 16" at the end and 30' long. The 362 made quick work of it, and the humidity made quick work of me. It's all cut up but the hauling and splitting will have to wait.

Making 3 gallons of salsa tonight.

My buddy in Penna. had a nasty tree which was too close to his power lines. He was afraid to drop it for fear of hitting the lines, so he hired a tree guy to take it down.

Good news is that it didn't touch the lines..............................Better news is the tree guy gets to give him a new shed !!!!!!!!

Well, keep that "bird in the hand", and test the waters of potential expansion.

I surely feel ya when you say you have to know the wages you'll be earning vs. contract/commission work/wages.

We have a company here that pays great, when you're working.

Have had friends & family try to get me to go there.

I make less money where I'm at, but haven't been laid off in the 16+ years I've been there.

Best friend worked at AutoZone for around a year before being called back.

    Nah, can't do that.
