Been 90's and dew points above 70 here for awhile now. I'm tired of it. I HATE summer. And yes, I would gladly exchange the summer heat and humidity for your below 0 days full of snow and ice up north. The hot thick air just pizzes me off. I'm weird like that.

Me too. I could never live in Florida, or most of the southeast for that reason.

I don't like that humidity either, it sucks after a while, but... it's a trade-off. I love summer, but I only get 3 months of it (if I get lucky), 2-3 months are iffy, the rest are snow. 6-8 months of winter is starting to get old, might start looking for areas warmer.
I hear TN is nice this time of year...

So I'm trying to get back into the swing of things after my brief vacay in Mt. It was good up there.
Went through a hail storm between Gillette and Biddle that had 2" of slush on the road, 20mph or I was off the road- nasty driving for about 5 miles.
Miles City was good, $1700.00 worth of fireworks up in smoke, and beer. Jet boat fishing on the Yellowstone Sat., won a $5 bet by yanking a 2lb.+ catfish out of a "puddle"- you would have to have been there, it was hilarious. :salute:
Of course, being around all the kids we both picked up a bug and are hacking and coughing. Gotta love it. On the mend now but ... it's 2:45am and I'm working on prints again, so back in the routine. Uugh. :picard:

The weather here is fine most of the time. I'm just a chronic complainer when it comes to humidity. And when you complain about it you usually get flack from people who don't like snow or who are infatuated with summer.

My point when I complain about summer humidity isn't that I love shoveling snow or slipping on ice. It's that given the choice between the two I would rather be out in the cold for a few hours than out in humid 90 deg temps. All of the things that normally annoy me slightly, but that I can deal with, are escalated when it's humid out. The humidity makes heat unbearable, at least in the cognitive sense. I can't think when I have a blanket of hot, moist air smothering me.

And there is a difference between dry heat and humid heat. When you say dry heat usually the response you get is "so is an oven!". I roll my eyes to these idiots...you aren't cooking anything at 90 deg which is the NORMAL temperature range here...not 350F. I've been to Vegas and AZ countless times in the 90 deg temps and my evaporative cooling system works great.

I was working on the house I'm trying to rent out over the weekend and I had the air set on 77 F. I had to cut some 2x4's and had the saw set up outside. EVERY time I went out I felt like I was being smothered and it just drains my motivation to do anything. Compare that to the winter and I'll be out all day long cutting trees and enjoying it. My body just responds better when it can breathe.

So just because I feel alone on hating the summer, I did a Google search to see if there was such a thing as humidity lovers...and there is... Want to know what their reasons are? Low humidy dries out their skin and they have to use more lotion....it gives them a sore throat...they like the smell of humid air....etc.

I'm like WHAT....THE...####!? Are these people serious??? I guess if you spend summer as a casual observer and never leave your house, or spend all day in the water, etc. then MAYBE I can see how summer would be enjoyable. But for the rest of us who have to be out in it for non-recreational purposes, it sucks. Or maybe they just like walking around with greasy, sweaty...well forget it...you guys know.

Amen. I too hate the humidity. When we were going to AZ I had no problem with 90 degrees...until we started heading back to MI. Getting accustomed to the higher humidity again was a problem for sure. But then we had the humidity low in the house all winter so we still have the problem getting used to the higher wet crap.

As for me, I think about the most ideal is between 50 and 75. For cutting wood, I really don't think you can beat the 30's for that. I will work in colder but have a terrible problem with my feet and legs due to having had polio in my youth. Just one problem I've had most of my life but I still feel better when it is on the chilly side. As I age, I like the cold less and less; especially when it gets below 15 or 20 degrees. Hate ice.

Funny how Florida is such a vacation Hotspot but most of the people I've met on forums etc from and/or living in Florida hate it and want out. Similar with california. I'd rather visit Louisiana, maybe in winter. Moving is out of the question, but I do like to travel.

The Aveo cost 2,000 bucks for repairs, and all from lack of use. I've put about 3/4 the mileage on my Rio in 4 months that the Aveo's seen in almost 5 years haha

humidity - ya know it off the charts when the windows are sweating on the outside. I am going to have to break down and turn the dehumidifier on -on the main floor 66-72% inside with the ac on.

Severe storm just blew through. Damage everywhere. Another big one on the way. No power.

Nothing major damaged for us but some of the neighbors have trees on their houses. Hopefully we fare the same on round 2.

My brother and his wife live in St Pete. Come June and they get out of town and go up North for a few weeks. It does get unbearably humid and hot there in summer.

Just got back today from Wisconsin Dells. We had our two youngest grandkids with us and we stayed at Mt Olympus. First day the kids spent in the water and this morning was spent on rides. It is hard to keep up with them. They are 10 and 12. No pics cause we forgot the camera at home. They get returned to their dad tomorrow. Be nice to sleep in after that.
