Well in advance. I think they schedule it in the fall so they can get notice to all the media.

Well, the first time I picked up my wife for a date I thought I met her mother at the door. Later my date told me that was her sister... At that time her sister did look older than her mother.

An offering is just that. What ever you feel like giving. No doubt some dollars are always needed. What is your daughter getting from it? What is it worth?

This is more about teaching your daughter to give then it is about collecting a lot depending on the number of days I would do like a dollar a day of class

    Daughter just graduated 8th grade:thumbs:..
She got an award for living life well. Basically in her class there's a student with Downs, one in a wheelchair, one that's missing a hand .. apparently my daughter, decided those children who are a little shy, if teased she would use her loud voice to defend.
I knew nothing about it except, one time the school counselor called to say that somebody had picked on one of her friends and Liz had shoved them into a locker.
I asked if she was being a bully and they said no she's being a Defending a student with special needs..
Okay great.. she was suspended for 1 day zero tolerance.. I took her shopping:D
I am extremely proud. Being a compassionate member of world is:thumbs:.. now that with some honor roll would be fantastic;)

Way to go young Canadian border VT , this on top of her befriending then welcoming her is incredible, no doubt your proud!

Thank you and brenndatomu and Backwoods Savage on the Vacation Bible School Offering question. Value is immeasurable, budget is not. I asked her how much she values the teachers that taught her and what she might offer them so they can teach more children. She ran to her wallet (big girl piggy bank) and counted out her entire life's savings, $26 (allowance, toothfairy, and minus recent purchase of lego's). She will offer $5 tomorrow, $1 per day though she missed yesterday, she made a special envelope with scissors and paper for hers :), I will offer more separately. I was fortunate to go to Bible School at my grandparents farm a few years as a kid, then taught one year at the same church one year after I could drive and did not have summer weeks there any more, those lessons are still with me all this time.

On another note instead of monsters in closet, here, we are dealing with her being afraid of aliens. We made alot of progress the last couple weeks then that stupid La Junta Colorado alien was all over every channel we get. We have not seen the news for a few days

Trying to catch up after a couple of days.
Happy anniversary to wildwest , congrats on the nice Brandon Scott , message I'll swing by sometime and slay the crappies with you. :seasoned:. That $8 songs like a cheap insurance against lightning strikes. Florida sure gets a lot of lightning. brenndatomu that's crazy about that motorcyclist. So many people think the rubber it's what saves you from a strike while in a car, it's really the roof diverting the charge. That biker had no chance once the strike hit him.
Tonight I was installing distressed metal tiling over the old backsplash above the sink and the cooking stove. I got a lot of it done, but there's a few pieces I need to trim and fit.

So, my dawgs are really agitated right now. Why? Because I am.
While I was sitting here, responding to a PM, I hear this muffled "Mrraawwrawrhuphmraw.." noise behind me. Outside, had to be.
I grab a light and start shining...... Fricken bear!!! SOB had somehow wrecked my new feeder, and the hanger. The bottom of the feeder was over 10' off the ground, over a deck. I haven't surveyed anymore damage than the hanger and feeder, because...
I saw that, grabbed the 12g. and a light and took off after the bastidge! I saw his eyes across the creek, reflection from my light.
    Bears are pretty fast.
I got across the creek and 100' up the hill and then- WTH, you'll never catch it. I did circle the house a few times, 'cause they will back-track, but nothing.
This might have been a different bear than the last one. It can reach 10'+ to grab a feeder? I ran a tape to verify that measurement before I logged on, doesn't seem legit.
Maybe the noise was it trying to jump? I don't know. Probably gonna try to find some claymores on the dark-web. ;)

edit- Round two- after 30 min., getting ready to let the dawgs out to pee, I shoo them away from the door before I check what's outside and- 150lbs of bear is Right.Fricken.There!- 6" from the screen door! It went "white-eyed" and did a 180 as I scrambled to get the door open.
Cleared the corner of the house before I was even fully outside. Gave myself a nice gash in my thumb for the effort (I have a picture-:emb:)
I'm walking the perimeter, checking for beasties. Once cleared, my 115lbs. combined weight of dawgs can go pee. Looking forward to sun-up.

Yep - 10' of reach when they fully stretch out. Had a bear take down a section of metal spike fence, reach up and grab the bottom of a feeder hanging from a mature maple tree and pull it down. That feeder was hanging on a cast iron hook that was was hanging on a very stout branch. The bear was strong enough to straighten that hook out some before the branch came peeling off the tree. The tree was injured so badly from the incident we finally put it out of its misery 2 years later and planted another tree.

And to think, we only have smaller black bears around here :jaw:
