Finally got around to cleaning the gutters. Long overdue.

That has to be the single most thankless job related to home ownership

 

Man is he getting big. They grow so fast.

What, no toast?

 

Went to the cottage on Fri morning and got quite a surprise. The ice on the lake went out!

Stayed there both fri and sat nights with the mandatory wood fire in the NC-13. The overnight temps were in the 20's with evidence of hard water in puddles sat and Sun mornings.

The indoor temps would have done justice to Backwoods Savage as they were in the low 80's, however, those temps are way too warm for this guy!

Some yardwork there and then some more yardwork here. No rush to get it done in one shot now-a-days!

 

Got a bunch of scraps from broken pallets at work this week. They would only go in the dumpster. Cut them up yesterday morning, then picked up 16 boards to do the toe board on the house as well as roofing gum. Got all the boards painted and gathered a car load of landscaping garbage while they finished drying. Also found a chunk of wood in the river this morning...

 

That is my kind of car !!

A decent weekend here. Spent some time with the family. Helped my brother on a job a few hours here and there. Got a few things done around the property, to include installing some more timber braces in the barn at the top of the tall walls to the beams. Nice 4”X6” bracing at 45degree angle. 3’ long. Looks nice and when put together with Timberlocks they really strengthen things up nice. Finally a nice weather day out there today. Took the family on a nice walk with the mutleys in tow. We all enjoyed it.

Ourselves, we stayed at the cottage. It should be time to hook up the water maybe next weekend; that's always a plus! We went for walks along the highway and they were just great due the very low traffic. Soon it'll be tourist season (no, you can't shoot them) and we'll have to get used to the idiots racing along the roadways taking chances with everyone.

We went to the Lake Superior three times last week and enjoyed each time! Maybe should buy a place there, huh?

Continued yardwork for this week as both yards have finally melted to greater than 95% snow free!

I dunno, but my awesome wife brought me a cold yuengling lager yesterday while I was burnt brush. That was unexpected and very appreciated.

 

No chit.

That's why I paid extra and got the leafguard gutters the other week.
