    Happy Saturday night Hoarders.

My patch of sod is turning green yooperdave , that said, I'll be grateful when the new blower for the pellet stove arrives next week and I get it installed, the electric meter has been working overtime this last week with the electric space heaters. Might need to cut the grass in May.  Woodwidow about him and brownies

Backwoods Savage , I'd love to heed your advice, afraid that's not possible here unless I go further away from town, and I want to get closer to town. I want the impossible, in town or very close to town without another home 20' from mine. Guess I'm looking at another year out here and look again next year unless something comes up. Making a couple minor changes here meanwhile to make it a bit better (blinds in one window instead of dark curtains to brighten the den and moving a shelving unit into bedroom from garage for more used items currently in the cold garage).

Yesterday was very busy getting almost all of the remaining firewood to family. There is some left I will get over to my neighbor. I also moved stacks of lumber out to storage. Today will be some ladders.

I had a deal fall through on a lawn tractor, so I may stop into a dealer this week and look at lawn or small garden tractors. Used asking prices are not far from new, with unknown history to them. I can repair an older used one, but I will have a lot to do at our new place and will need a solid running unit right from the start.

It will have to be able to haul a yard trailer to move rounds for processing and hauling brush to a burn pile out back. Hopefully I can get a mulcher as I should not need a bagger. I've always let the cuttings lay and mulch leaves back into the lawn.

I slept last night with the window cracked open. It felt great! I'll probably have a small fire this morning, to warm up the basement. My grandson is coming, and the cat will want to hang out down there. She likes him in small doses.

Yesterday was not a very good day for me , I was out raking up some leaves and picking up some brush with the Kubota when something snapped in the front end. Then I noticed the front wheel wanting to lock up. I don't know what happened and now I have a decision to make try to find parts and repair or get a different tractor. Been considering a new Kubota, we shall see!

Morning. Just working in shop today. Got to spray finish hopefully before it rains. I still need to find some pallets when I can find the time. I have a 5x10 trailer that will come in handy for this. Good day to all.

There's plenty of good ones out there, some are really made well, and many, well, are just there for a limited time and are not made to last.

What models have you been looking at?

I have to shorten a few branch pieces and splits that are on the patio this morning. I want to clean them up as they have sat on the patio all winter, and the crew will be putting the siding up on the house on the patio this week. Also, with snow expected today, I lit a fire last night. I might as well burn what's close to the house at the same time as cleaning up the patio.

Can't like this when our tractors break down. But it could be the wheel bearings went out. Mine have gone out twice, probably because I move some heavy logs...2 bearings and seals was under $100 and took about 1 1/2 hrs to fix. Yesterday was a nice day. Sunshine and 60 temps. Wind was chilly though. When sitting out front, noticed my lilac is budding. Chaz went over and picked up the splitter and started to get after the ash he had taken down. Later took an ride on the 4 wheeler and he showed me where he is gonna start tackling the trees on the pipeline. Boy are we going to have a lot wood.

I've heard that an awesome way to make pike. I've been told that some people like it better than smoked salmon.

Pike is pretty darn good out of the smoker, and the winter caught bass are really good too.

My favorite overall fish to to smoke is lake trout from Lake Superior. Others include whitefish and steelhead. I don't get many salmon.

I have tried smoking carp, river redhorse and white sucker and they come out pretty good too.
