For a while there were no clouds and beautiful sunshine. Cloud rolling in now (just like yesterday). Probably lose the sunshine soon... But at least it is supposed to get above freezing again....finally.

Right where I want to be.
I remember in my teens when brother, a couple friends and I would go fishing REAL early, and have to sleep in the car for a couple hours before dawn. Moonlit nights were the best. Still are......almost like daylight sometimes.

Used to be able to go in the back yard and look up - see the Milky Way.
    No more.
All the farms that might smell like cows now and then are gone and what has grown on them smell like dryer sheets now.

Can still see the milky way from my house but my farm you can see it way better!

My buddy from the city when he meets me up there to hunt always comments on all the stars you see, since you can't see half of them in the city.

I remember seeing the Milky Way many, many years ago. Even being 50 miles north of the city does not allow the sky to become dark enough. I also remember seeing stars covering the entire sky from horizon to horizon.

This is sad hearing about people not even able to see the stars.

I know I hate it when at night you can see the distant reflection of the cities. We see some from Lansing, Flint and Saginaw. Distance is 50-50-35 to them. In addition I hate driving around at night and see all the lights from homes. Shoot, even in the daytime we see people leaving lights on...all day and all night. What a shame.

I remember when the mercury lights came out and some farmers thought they were wonderful. I never did. In fact, if someone was out to steal, the constant light would be to their favor! Better to make them use their light and then see exactly where they are.

Really??? How big of a city? I live in a VERY small town. We even have a fee night lights on the main roads. My neighbor has one that shines in the edge of my yard, and I am 50 miles north of Augusta GA which is a pretty good sized town and I see it?

I say the same thing. All these city people light up their stuff to keep theives away. Unless you light it up like one of those gas stations where it's like daylight under them they can just see your stuff and operate in the shadows. It's better to keep your stuff in the dark and see a flashlight flashing around in my opinion.

Warning! Warning! Don't allow your wife to watch DYI or HGTV. Those flipping shows and Property Brothers will give them chitty ideas you will hate.
I spent last weekend laying vinyl flooring. Then my wife said, "We should paint the walls. . Spent the day priming the walls. Tomorrow will be even worst with painting the walls and trim. I hate painting.

I enjoy painting. Zero frustration and pretty effortless. I know I'm weird...

It isn't so much the painting, but the crawling around the floor and up and down the latter. With one knee replaced and the other one needing replacement, it is agony.
I will have to admit, my granddaughter's husband did most of the vinyl flooring laying. . I have all the quarter round trim to paint it is installed. It will be a pleasure. I have some saw horses set up so I can work at waist height.
Our daughter is coming over in tomorrow to paint.
My wife just came down from upstairs to get into her message chair. Couldn't sleep. Her back is hurting her. I told her to slow down. Primer dries quickly and it does not need to get all completed today. She is bull headed and wouldn't listen.

Fun! Going to see what I can find on stars and constellations now :). I found this online and it looks very interesting, put in your location:

The rotation of the night sky - In-The-Sky.org

Since we moved here I can see 3 stars at night though a bedrrom window certain times of the year that I assumed was Orion's belt . Now I'm excited and curious to identify exactly what I'm seeing after reading your posts!

Following up on the floodlight for the backyard, yes, still pitch black out there tonight, not as unnerving on this 3rd night. Born and raised in suburban'ish house, Even after we bought our first house where it was "primo" stargazing there was always the glow from the city below.

Gotta say, I'm glad my neighbor has backed off with his "security" lights.

Hopefully it will last, but his lights aim right at our place, and it su¢#$ in the summertime when we want to sit out front.
    :hair:

I prefer it to be dark, one of the reasons we bought the property.

Heck, I even asked my Dad to turn off the spotlight, thankfully he obliged.

Those damm shows! If you watch enough of them, yes-they tend to believe that what they see should be done to their house also! Must be the same reason why there are so many political ads (TV radio and signs) repeated over and over relentlessly. If you hear it enough times, it must be what you need!
