Not going to count that out, however it is time to do the snowblower and generator check out. My snow blower just happens to be outside so maybe this evening I can scare the neighbors by firing it up.

Tomorrow I'm going to submit my notice of retirement as garage door opener. I should receive the opener I ordered as a birthday present for the boss. I've installed one in the past and think I can manage to install this one.

Generator..... thanks for the reminder, I'll get that tonight too. I'll get a new oil filter before the weekend for the generator so I can change the oil.

I usually drag out the blower for an oil change and test run in September. Change the oil in the genny at the same time. Both get run at least once midsummer already.

This year i also need to find an option to store the blower outside, since I cant get it out with the new truck in the garage. Options Im considering are just get a poly cover and leave it next to the garage ($50) or build a small leanto shed against the side of the garage for it to live in (~ $200). Thoughts guys?

If stealing isnt a problem in your area I'd just pull it out of the garage and cover it the night before.

I haven't even been in the People's Republic of California for 24 hours yet and I'm already way past ready to leave.

The door opener is an easy install as long as you have it lined up right. I put two up by myself, but that was some time ago.
You need some electricity need the gearbox and you are good to go.
Saw in you signature you have 12 tons of MWP. That's a chunk of space to tie up.

I have 14 ton on the floor and a pile of other stuff.

The 'tricity is all ready there and the circuit breaker says garage door opener on the label. The only thing I might need is a lag bolt or piece of angle iron. The lag bolts I have. Funny but there is always a few extra lag bolts around.

The only thing is I'm a few decades older than the last time I installed one.

So am I plus a few years, but if I didn't have a bum leg, I wouldn't hesitate. Everything I needed to put my door openers came in the kit. (craftman) they work as well today as the day I put them in. Only thing I have done is keep the chain lubed and adjust the closing pressure enough so they don't keep opening back up when they hit bottom. My doors are the wood panel ones so common back in the 70's. Funny, they now cost several times what the new metal doors do. You must have one that is insulated. Good you are so well stocked with pellets.

Everything is supposed to be in this kit but it will depend on if the kit parts actually cover the garage construction situation and if what is in the kit meets my requirements. I don't tolerate flimsy fasteners.

Next up is that the boss is getting concerned about her 'matters and blight. I figure that tomorrow morning we will be pulling and striping some vines. She just had to get some cherry tomato plants and guess what is happening?

Oh well, we need some green tomato items in the larder.

I spent a typical evening in the cave workshop... hunting for tiny screws and shaping wood. 15 hours into what will probably be a thousand hour projecto_O

I'm in the garage today, running the table router and fluting some trim for finish on the replacement windows I put it the other day.
Calling for a high of 72 deg here today, good woodworking temps.

Yeah the weather is great for renovations! I'm taking all of next week off to finish painting the upstairs I started in the spring, and Ive got two more antique windows to pull out, strip reglaze and paint. This weather means I might be able to do the work in the garage rather than the basement, and just bring them inside for a week to let the putty setup before paining.

Thanks for the comments... don't want to hog the thread but I thought some of you guys might be interested, as this project is more like fine woodworking than traditional balsa model building. The structure is mostly very fine plywood and lots of pine/spruce; and a fair amount of metalwork (welded steel tubing on the real deal, duplicated in miniature with soldered brass) Fabric covered with real linen and dope and all wire braced with real steel cables and miniature brass turnbuckles with #0 and #2 gauge threads. I wasn't kidding on the thousand hours part... I figure its going to take me 2-4 years of evenings. Probably have an excuse to buy some new tools like a benchtop lathe along the way ;)

And then the crazy part is I will be nuts enough to fly it???

When its done its going to be a replica of this http://www.fantasyofflight.com/aircraft/wwi/albatros-d-va/

The coolest part is that giant Mercedes inline 6 in the real thing sounds like a Johnny Popper when its idling. If only I could miniaturize that sound!!

My wife is having a lot of problems with funguses and bugs attacking all her veggies as well.... Though at least we have veggies this year thanks to the new fence I put up keeping the deer out.

Tying to avoid harsh chemicals the latest thing she got is a bottle of this stuff called neem oil to try. Ill let ya know if it makes a difference.
