My duramax that sits in a 60 degree garage takes 20 minutes to really start to vlow heat. If I let it run on high idle outside its still 20 minutes but the truck is a lot colder to begin with so even though it is blowing heat it's still colder. Winter front is a must but that only maintains engine temp on the road, doesn't help a ton sitting at idle.
Buddy finally picked up the wheels.....third times the charm I guess. More or less Said he didn't realize he was so close, he thought he'd have to drive halfway across town till he looked it up. could have looked it up the first time....
I was almost hoping he didn't, but glad to just be rid of the headache. More room in mom's porch now.
Today was my "on-call" day. I'm always on-call, but today my phone rings first. The company got their money's worth out of me. I just hope this doesn't go on all night.
Seems like the site is a bit more active this evening. wildwest should be pleased! 4:00 comes early and this guy is short on sleep as usual.
Yes mat60 , mine can idle for over 10 minutes and the thermostat barely moves. Idk tree killer, I have never seen a high idle on my duramax and it's rarely 60*. We'll see, the plug for the block heater was finally located tonight though we bought it in 2010, will try that and a grill cover and cross my fingers
Pretty normal...diesel engines make little heat at low idle. Here's a manual high idle kit for a Dmax...$20 High Idle Kit, LB7, 2001-2004 Duramax
Heck, I've seen more action here in the summertime than how its been here lately...more members than ever and less posting goin on...
Hopefully Ill have some wood stacks to show this summer. All my wood is in a pile and its getting smaller.
I'm always around. Usually breaking stuff and using FHC as a sounding board to fix it, otherwise drinking beer on the lake.
Try the block heater, grill cover, and maybe a plug in heater in the cab? Under $20 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=plug+in+...52936470&tag=hydsma-20&ref=pd_sl_604x641f8e_e
