I'm 50 now, and have spent the majority of my life drinking to excess, and smoking. I can tell you that I feel the effects, but 33 that's just sad.

    Much sympathy to his family.

We all have the flu now. My wife started yesterday and got it confirmed at the walk in clinic today. Our son who lives with us had 102.1° fever tonight, so I guess he’s got it too. We told our other son and his family to not take it personally, but to stay clear of our house for a while. The grandkids love to come over and we love to see them, so this will be hard.

Yeah, I'm 43 and typically treat my body like an amusement park. This guy was the polar opposite though. Fitness fanatic, part time gig as a motivational speaker, author, etc. Apparently, he had a heart condition when he was a child, and it came back and bit him.

It really hit home with myself and my bosses that all knew him. 3 of us in similar circumstances traveling with young children. The two of us that hit the road the day after especially.

My father has said that if knew he was going to live so long he would have taken better care of himself. He is going strong at 77.

My uncle, age 89, sharp as a tack, still fires up a cigar and drinks beer at the drop of a hat with anyone that stops by. Still drives too.

I was in my 40's when I decided to put family above job. No ifs ands or buts. The sacrifices you make for your employer (s) are totally worthless IMO and watching the effects "staying late" and "going that extra mile" had on my children were the breaking point. Now don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean I don't believe in putting in a good days work.............

That's so sad, 33, and young children. Every day we are alive is our lucky day.

Heading out for our family Christmas in a couple hours. Should be a good time. Packages for my kids and our granddaughter all waiting at the "lodge" to be brought over to my mothers for the celebration.

My mother asked me to bring along some wood for my nephew for his fireplace. His wife is the definition of uptight so I made them as pretty as I could.

    I wish!

No, in central Iowa. I do plan to get up to my friends cabin in Hayward in a few weeks. My youngest and a couple of his friends went up there last weekend.

    Dad was jealous :)

Funny...I thought maybe I'd give her some nice birch I kept for decorating in the off season, but then I thought "I don't like her that much" :)

One last work day... loaded up the stove with about 80% of hedge... 12” to 14” lengths... left overs from my days of my NC13. My wood pile up at the house is pretty bare... had to tap into my reserves... needed the extra BTU’s any ways, with that north wind and a long duration burn....
