    Anyone recall our beef jerky incident last Christmas?

    My father's wife gave us a bag of dog treats for Blondie and Blackie last year in the shape of and the words beef jerky on the bag. While I was in conversation them we looked up, WWW and WWWW both had a slice, both had taken a bite. Neither looked like they thought it was delicious :bug::rofl: :lol::hair::rofl: :lol::doh:

    He sees our attention has turned to them and nicely asks while holding up the bag up to read it and remarks "what brand of jerky is this? "

    :eek::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::eek:

    Guess what she gave him this year?!?

    Breakfast with my father this morning. McDonalds was quick and easy on the way here. Caffeine and a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich is enough. After I visit with him for a while, and then with my Mother when she gets up, Im hoping to get out with the chainsaw today and do some trimming and cutting of firewood while slowly starting on a new trail. Have some fun today and stay safe.

    Mornin' Hoarders...........warmed up to 21 here this a.m. Ingesting some of that blasphemes drink known as coffee. Heading down to the truck stop for the last meeting of the " Setting the world back on track" social committee meeting for this year. We are supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow tonight so will get ready for that when I get back. Everyone have a safe and great last day of the year........................................:thumbs:

    The snow amount is the same for here, but we won't have to wait until tonight!

    Maybe we'll be treated with a pic of that orange snow relocating machine tomorrow? :D

    Get these things out of the freezer before the weeks out. Going home Friday night weather permitting and buying 20 loaves of bread Saturday morning so I should be good for over a month. Home fries are better anyway, probably better for you, and potatoes are cheaper than processed products and don't have to be frozen.

    bogieb Whenever my dad made veggie soup he always put the left overs in the garage. Soup was much better the second day. Frig was too small for the pot. We had a stove that had a recessed pot with only 3 stovetop burners.

    We had a stove like that. The back left burner could be pulled up to deck height , iirc, but there was a pot that fit in the well with the burner down inside. That stove caught on fire one morning . I remember carrying it out still smoking with my dad before we got on the school bus.

    That certainly helps. Most importantly is to say nothing when you know full well that no good will come from a negative "discussion". Getting the last word in has NO VALUE. We will have our 50th in Oct 2019.

    Do you just slice and bake them? Or cut, layer them out and freeze?

    Just clean, slice and bake. I usually do them fairly thin to bake. Fry them sometimes too, when that's an option (currently no safe-to-use frier)
