Me too, I couldn't climb into one of those above the ground, and I have no desire to take care of one. My son put one in the back yard for two years, but not this year. He too doesn't want to deal with it. He said it needed to be replaced. (it was one that was given to him). Last year, no matter how hard he tried, he had trouble keeping the water clear.

I use bright yellow on my tools. That color really stands out.

Caffeine going in. Slept in a little after being up late. Time to get a few things done with the M59. You hoarders have a good day.

Very drippy out there today. I think we got some moisture falling through the fog. I am glad I got the lawns cut yesterday. We have a long weekend coming up and I think it is going to be wet. Fortunately we are staying home and not going camping. Our daughter and SIL are participating in a kayak race this weekend and I think they are going to get wet.

Supposed to get hot again this weekend. But at least we finally got a decent rain. Looks like it will be starting again within the hour.

Mom's birthday today, so in town now for who knows how long and already sick of the traffic. Able to get a shower for the first time since Sunday though.

Got a couple doors for 10th bucks each.....she's building a countertop of sorts out of them.

I worked at the city pools &YMCA from age 11-19, they were commercial filtration, both indoor and outdoor pools, then worked at a pool store in college. That store did not sell above ground/retail pools, but we did however carry all the accessories for retail pools, liners, inlet/outlets, valves, hose, plugs, covers, chemical/supplements, filters/media, poles, pumps, vacuums, and on and on and on, all of it...... The majority of them do not have sufficient water turnover, or chemicals for different situations (rarely used vs pool party vs dirt blowing in vs tree leaves dropping etc. = a lot of upkeep unless under ideal conditions or zelous owner (but what host parent stops the kiddos birthday party to test the water parameters, kwim?).

Right where I want to be.
Bought a house many moons ago with an above ground pool that needed to be replaced......became part of the deal, but I had to do it.
Took down old one, then when putting up new one, .....I AM NOT a professional pool putter upper...........a very nice thunderstorm came rolling through (unexpected, by me at least) and started knocking down the walls while we were filling it.
Guess which Id10T was INSIDE the pool during previously mentioned storm holding up the walls? Fair amount of work making the ground level and smooth (w/o rocks and other protuberances).
I was younger and the girls had tons of fun in that thing, so for that it was worth it. I really don't want another.

Always buy a filter and pump at least one step up in size. Mine turns over the pool twice in five hours by a true calculation. I went from a monster DE filter to a sand filter. Most commercial pools use sand filters. They are a bit slower to get polished looking water, but once I do, it stays crystal clear all season. The DE filters are a nightmare if you open a pool to algae. Clogs up the filter way too quick. Sand filtering requires patience. I also use ground glass instead of sand. Getting the water balanced, staying on top of any algae by keeping phosphates down and regular brushing and vacuuming should do it. An hour's work once a week and you can expect an easy go of keeping the pool clean and sanitized. If things go sideways, make sure you have on hand what you need to get it back. Just jump on it right away.
