WOO HOO!!, we have a fall/winter home improvement project . A small budgeted remodel of what is supposed to be a BIG remodel someday (budget said otherwise of our plans in 2014 after we were stunned of the huge price difference on labor and supplies in this funky little town just over an hour from our previous home :jaw:, it included knocking out walls, new drywall etc.). The old icky small bath!! (warmer and has a much smaller tub that is easier for me to get in and out of and the carpet will help with burning/stinging Raynauds).

Extra layer of subfloor, new plastic walls in tub surround, carpet and pad, vanity & faucet (toilet, mirror and light fixture already replaced), I will find the best economical shower/tub faucet kit, and a new coat of bright paint. When WWW can, he'll help me with all the heavy things like removing/re-installing toilet, cutting the new layer of subfloor, demo of disgusting built in vanity/sink, getting new copper or pex in place for the new tub/shower faucet and rolling the paint. I'll do the rest a bit at a time every day, paint trim, assembling both the sink and tub faucet and lines, toilet lines, run the compressor a bit every day to get the subfloor fastened then the carpet strips stapled and other things I forgot to mention. We've always been an invincible team on anything we did, but since I got sick he's a prince about coming in after I things are ready but nuts/bolts/compression fittings and any other muscles that need tightened down (oh, and using the paint roller), or carried or moved. Oh, I'll add some floor leveler to the list for the chipped out osb chunks

They totally stopped the gravel and sand so it’s just salt now. The thing I don’t get is that the reservoir is owned by NYC. They have all sorts of regs about septic around them. That’s one of the reasons we have town sewer and water even though we are semi rural. The hard part is the water bill being about $1200 a year cause we buy it from NYC. The Wells we had got polluted and now we have a treatment plant for the city surface water. Sewer and water is almost $2k a year.

    Ouch!!!

One of the great things about where we live now, no water/sewer bills.

The rates seemed like they went up every year. :hair::hair:

I have driven 4 out of 7 cars I have had in my life over 300k miles. One was a Mercedes 300D that had the motor rebuilt at some point so it doesn’t really count does it? It was around 400k miles when we got rid of it. Had gremlins and climate control and vacuum problems. All ove the vehicles are over 200k.

Down here a truck of that age with a decent package on it and 4 doors would cost $10k unless your buying one over 200k miles of dented to he'll and back.

The 4.7 job is not bad...just a lot of stuff has to come off. I will do mine on the sequoia when needed.

The number of belts is probably not the issue it's how it's all wedged in there. Once you have all the stuff off more belts is probably not any worse one. The price is all relitive small belts cheaper than 1 larger one buying them that is.

Wouldn't need self leveler if your putting new subfloor or a layer of luan. Still don't understand why your Putting carpet in a bathroom. If it is for comfort or warmth, I would put area small rugs that can be removed and cleaned. Wall to wall would get so nasty and get mold in a bathroom.

Thanks Clems, I appreciate the no nonsense response :) We don't get mold out here, no worries, google raynauds, the inexpensive carpet will save pain and damage.

Chevy was an ecsb half ton, ram a quad cab short bed half ton, both 4x4. Mid range models but the Chevy slightly higher than the ram. The ram wasn't expensive to buy but turned into a bit of a money pit. Just luck of the draw I guess. Also turned out to be one of those trucks that one side of the truck requires parts for an 06, the other side an 07. That must be quite the nuisance.....

Just browsed for rams locally, I find an 08 QCSB 4x4 with roughly 70K miles that does appear to be a very well cared for, near perfect condition truck, asking $11K. I also found a 2009, same configuration, slightly higher miles and 98% condition for $9K. I'd choose that one. A 2007 quad cab with no visible flaws (albeit not many pictures) with 118K miles was asking $6K. That's probably more towards normal miles and pricing for a half ton that age here. One in less than perfect shape could be less.

Used Trucks are priced pretty fairly here I think for the most part. Like everywhere, you'll get the odd idiot that thinks what they have is worth their weight in gold. One model I really notice being overpriced IMO is the Colorado and canyon. People always seem to want a price that could buy a similar or even better condition full size.

Also found a 2007 ram, QCSB 4x4, 187K and a touch of wheel well rust(and no apparent other flaws), but a diesel manual one ton, for 10K bucks.

Well, I am away for the day and pages and pages get posted. Quite a read when I got back. The dogs and I now have squeaky clean teeth but my computer is in the shop for a deep clean. I won't get it back until next week when I go down again.

wildwest, sorry to hear about the Raynauds. I’m guessing the carpet will be a good choice. Have you thought about putting radiant heat in there as well? I know it’s expensive, but it may help.

Yeah, that is why when I bought my current Explorer, the 100,000 (okay 98.5k) on a 4 YO vehicle didn't bother me. Had to be easy miles. Or at least I hope so. Of course you always takes your chances when buying used. I'm betting they traded in the vehicle because the A/C compressor went and they didn't want to spend that kind of money on it . . .
