I know. They are adding 2 SUVs. One new crossover comes out in 2019 model year. I would really like to see a full size pickup that doesn’t rust and I can keep it for ten or more years. Just got an email from them today. They won the Pike's Peak race in June in record time with an electric car. 680 hp. 0-62 in 2.25 seconds. The factory in Tennessee will also be producing a new generation of electric cars. I wish I had bought their stock after they screwed up with the diesel cheating.

We got lucky today with dry air and in the 80s. Sat under a locust tree in the yard sipping iced tea and lemonade after I tried weed whacking and set off a very painful arthritis flare.

Honda’s were once almost as good as Toyotas, but their reliability has been off the past 5-10 years. 2006 Civic we had was a real POC. Defective rack the first day we bought it new. Engine block had a factory extended warranty because they has cracked block issues. Aluminum oil pan cracked when tightening drain bolt because it was drilled on an angle. Hood rusted through. Paint had to be redone under warranty cause it peeled. Air bag lights, bad sensors and even defective sun visors. We still have a 2006 Accord EXL with only 57k and its had it’s share of problems from electrical, three sets of brakes and rotors all around., power steering line rotted out, suspension and now it’s rusting. My son worked for them years ago and he saw the quality go down. I could tell you stories. Not wanting to say why, but when they started making them in the US, things changed. Most dealers do tons of warranty work in them now. I had an '04 Accord that blew a crank shaft seal after an oil change on the highway. Lost all the oil. The higher oil pressure blew out the rubber plug seal. I bought it used from the Honda dealer and they never did the recall to put a plate in to stop that from happening. Check the hidden extended warranties and you’ll find out where the problems. Every car has issues and you never know which ones will leave you dead in the road with a worthless hulk. My 2000 Civic automatic was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Got it new. Put 190k and the only reason I got rid of it was that it became an extra car and it sat in the driveway. The brake lines had rotted out from sitting and I still got $900 for it three years ago. Never had to change the rear drum brake linings either, just front disc pads and rotors. The only major thing I ever put in there was an A/C compressor. Wish they still made them like that.

Well, it looks like I’ve gone on a rant again. Sorry.

Nope. Took a pain pill and I’m in bed. Psoriatic arthritis is not fun when those expensive meds you see on TV stop working.

Thanks everyone for the input about car rentals. He knows now to avoid Versas, which are all over the place. He's going to go in to the local AAA office and talk to them.

:picard:C’mon Al. Most of those problems are because you tried to change them to a wood burning gasification powered car.:wacky:

That era honda, mid 00s did have a pain't problem. My sister in law had about an 04 accord the verticle surfaces went bad on it, she had the hood trunk and roof repainted as it made it look like crap. It was less than probably 6 years old at that time.

My folks bought a ‘97 CRV new, drove it to 190,00 miles, gave it to me in ‘09 and I sold it to my FIL in ‘14....has over 230,000 miles on it, no rust, paint is fine.
Guess there are many factors involved regarding vehicle longevity.:salute:

And everyone quoting "high mileage" of 90,000 or 140,000 miles those are not high mileage, maybe the latter one on a 3 year old truck but nothing else. I don't consider it many miles till your over 200k. Anything should be able to easily make it to the 200k mark now a days if you keep up with it and don't treat it like you stole it.

I do agree. Even sometimes getting lucky helps. My son works with a guy who gets 300-500k out of cars and trucks. He has a long commute. He’s gotten high mileage on a Ford Ranger too. I think the more you drive a car the longer it seems to last. If it sits, it has more issues.

Absolutely. Almost any car now should go 250k on the original motor. Metallurgy and lubricants are way far more advanced than in the olden days.

That last part Reminds me of Another experience we had with the old dakota.......came out of mall, found glass where truck should have been. 2 young guys robbed the truck. Thankfully an old guy seen them. They made it a few hundred yards up the road at a hardware/lumber store, in heavy traffic you cold almost walk there quicker than drive. Had one of those classic soft plastic windows for a while.......:BrianK:

Thankfully that we the last time I got a ride in a cop car.....

X2, wholeheartedly. It also only makes rust worse in areas like here where you have salt air as well as road salt.

Those kept in a garage over winter, with proper storage maintenance aren't as bad, but those left outside and used infrequently year round, run fast, run far.

To state the obvious, Highway miles are also the easiest. I'd rather buy a truck that was drove 100 miles a day on a highway commute than one that has Been drove to church on Sunday, and not much else.
