    Well, barter has ALWAYS been around, paper money is much more of a modern construct.
    You also have to compare the lifestyle between then and now.

    I like to live as self-sufficient as possible, but I don't really wanna have to have the skillset to survive as my ancestors.

    Sorry to hear about your cousin, he woulda been approx 6 months younger than me. That sucks. What happened, if you don't mind sharing.. no presssure there.

    They may have had trade, but they didn't have greed, job security issues, and all that the way our society does. Even comparing pre-"discovery" America's to Europe at the time was a night and day difference. They took what they needed, threw away little if anything, and moved around ith their little tents and let stuff grow back. Honestly as bad as they talk about vehicles and factories, I think buildings might just be the worst thing for the environment. Imagine the plant life that would exist if there were no permanent buildings..... don't get me started on litter mind you.....

    About my cousin, thanks very much, they think it was a heart attack but not 100% sure yet. His mom isn't taking it well, understandably, he was her only child....
