It's that time of year when we get Black Bears (garbage bears) wandering the neighborhood late at night so those little guys need to be rested to go out and scare the bear if he should get near to their fence. I take my hearing aids out at night so don't hear much, so I rely on Woodwidow to tell me and if I find them shut in their bedroom, I know that it has happened more than once!

I had two cold beers before Lazagna dinner. I ate two pieces of Lazagna, two helpings of salad, and three pieces of fresh Italian bread from a bakery loaf. Then, a Klondike Heath ice cream bar for dessert. I have a feeling I'm going to be sleeping like cricket all alone in the king bed! And I hope I don't hear chit for 9 hours. :D

Actually I feel very badly for the bears that unthinking people make available their garbage for the bears to get into. The sad realty is once a bear is into residential garbage, the result is usually inevitable! Even more scary is the fact we have a mama with two cubs making the rounds late at night.

We had fathers day and my birthday lunch at my moms today. Had fried wild turkey with all the fixins and an ice cream cake for desert.

Suddenly dealing with the racoons, groundhogs, and armadillos doesn't seem so bad.

That explains what happened to me, "them others" baited me and as a result now have my company.

People never learn campinspector, the idiots actually were feeding the bears at one location and were having a fit when some other folks reduced the bear population to zero. The wardens just couldn't get it through some thick skulls that feeding the bears wasn't a good idea.

Well I just installed a flash player update, I wonder if I can still stream Amazon Prime Videos.

My daughters came over on Saturday and made ole dad fire up the grill. I got dirt cake complete with worms for desert. They also set me up with my summer selection of tee shirts with various sayings on them (I'm running out of drawer space). My son called yesterday to wish me a happy father's day, he will be up to camp the end of this month for three weeks or so. He set me up with the means to acquire some brewing supplies (which I'll shortly need as yesterday I managed to use the tools of ignorance to dig a post hole) when my arm was ready.

Today might be a dig another hole day.

Busted butt for another 9 hours on the camp project trying to get ready for grass planting. Almost there. Always something though. Come across a stump I was going to leave and decide to dig it out instead. Then find a "little" rock sticking up. Use the hoe to dig it out and discover that it is the size of a small lawn tractor and weighs three times as much as one. So buy the time you take the stump or rock out and get the hole filled back in and tamped down and then leveled off you have burned up another 45 minutes to an hour. Always something. I have about half of the big pile of top soil spread out. got stuck a couple times today it is so wet down there. Used the hoe to pull myself out, then look at the new mess I made with the ruts. Still need to burn those big piles of brush and branches. Everytime it rains I have not caught it at the right time to burn. Usually the wrong time of day, I want to burn at night when it is dark. And by then the piles are too wet. I don't have tarps big enough to cover them and keep them dry for setting them a fire later. Can you tell I am ready to get this project done?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If things go well tomorrow with the weather I may be able to plant seed tomorrow night. Fingers crossed.

Have you thought of planting a wild flower mix in some areas or is the idea to keep it mowed all summer?

Any chance a smaller tarp over center areas of your piles would help? Keeps that dry enough to light the pile, the rest will dry out from the heat?

That is a good idea Stinny. I think I will try that if I don't get the right timing real soon. Chance of rain tonight goes up as the evening gets later. Could be the night for a burn. I will be home.

The plan is to keep it mowed. Although some wild flowers would be nice. My wife and oldest daughter have talked about that idea. So they will have to decide where they want to put them and do that as well. One reason for trimming up the trees and clearing the brush near the camp is to hopefully cut down on bugs. I have to try several things with the bugs. I will be adding bat houses, and houses made for certain birds. ( I forget if Martins or Wrens or both, C.R.S. LOL ) But all who like to eat the skeeters. :thumbs:And then eventually we will add a screened in porch so we can enjoy no matter what. That will be a few years off though.

Those flappies do a good job on skeeter control. Get some Guinea hens as well.
