What's up today (bullchiting) thread.

The snow has stayed for this morning but I think we are going above freezing today and it will disappear. Where did February go, I wonder? The months are going too fast.

 

Nope, the winter months can skitter right along as far as I'm concerned!

 

Have you started your summer garden dreaming yet? When will you be able to start working in the garden?

 

There's no snow cover right now, so I can rake and cut back the flower beds, which I need to do because there are a lot of bulbs in there. As far as vegetables go, I only grow tomatoes, and I buy the seedlings, so that's months away. I used to start a lot of flowers from seed in the house under lights, but not anymore. For awhile I had a job in the garden center at Home Depot, and I still have a friend there, so I get a lot of plants for free. But wood hoarding has really subsumed my gardening activities.

 

Remember that leaky shed roof? Today I found 4 squares of lifetime guarantee, 130mph wind rated owens corning duration shingles for $7 per bundle. Color was slate (dark greyish). That's a little over 75% off retail.

For $160, I got 12 bundles, tar paper, starter strip, sealant, drip edge and paid sales tax. My buddy has the nails. He's splitting the cost with me cuz he also has keys and free run of the place.

That's $175 less than I was going to pay to match the existing tan color, with el cheapo 3 tab 20 year 60mph rated shingles.

He spent an hour pricing it out in store to match the old brown 3 tab. He's not computer literate. I spent 5 minutes online, from home, and saved him half the bill haha. We instantly went and picked it all up before someone else did.

I don't know who's happier.

The problem is there is only 1 monkey currently in the electric workers union, so they are having a hard time assembling a crew!

For realz tho, His job is to sell. Close the deal, cash the check, and move on.....or find somebody who can.

Wife's newer AWD car/crossover came in before I sold her Pilot. 2015 Buick Enclave with 26,600 miles.
She is enjoying it very much!

 

I’ve been doing more walking lately to clear and recharge the brain. Both in the “City” and through our woods. I enjoy both. Along with some strength training stuff. Trying to burn off some of the extra winter calories my wife forced on me over the winter. It’s her fault. Don’t ya know? Ya. You guys already knew that. I know.

It is. The ride is not as smooth as I thought it would be over bumps and the like. But it is much better than her 2006 Honda Pilot with 134,000 miles on it!
