Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea that they were sold and parting ways with Suzuki.

I'm probably going to buy something in the 99-03 range. Probably a Thundercat or ZRT 800. I actually found some big bore 1100cc trail/lake sleds in the $3k range. The top end of the engine would cost that much.

Dang Oldhippie , that's good news they caught that (or you did). Anyway, take advantage of the help.

While I'm done with cats, and have been for a long time, those zrt's and later thundercats are solid. I still don't like that the parts for cats are more expensive than other brands.

I think cat moving away from Suzuki will be a a bad mistake. While Suzuki made the motors, cat thought they could squeeze more out of the motors and they thought they knew more than the engineers that designed the motors.. Sometimes that worked, sometimes it failed.

Many of my friends that used to ride, rode cats until the early 2000s. Now none of those guys ride at all.

On smooth trails, those zrt/ t cats would be fine. The lumpy trail conditions might leave you hurting though. That's how much better the suspension is now in current sleds. I just have a hard time buying a new sled when you're not even guaranteed to be able to use it. Winter, and snowmobiling is even moreso, is so fickle. To ride trails you have to have cold weather for long enough, and enough snow to groom.

Last season, in the northwoods of Wisconsin, we had a season about a week and a half long. I was amazingly able to take advantage of that and got a long weekend of riding in.

At my previous house we had a woodstove. One of our dogs would lay right as close to the stove as he could get. He would get hot and start panting up a storm, but wouldn't move. He had a short coat so I gotta think he would have been way up there toward 200* too.

I know. That's my issue with that. The company I work for has one group of office workers that are hourly (customer service) that abuse the overtime thing. Everyone else in the office is salary. There's policy changes for 2018 due to this.

Okay, I admit, they might not be all that hot, but we pretend a lot here that it will be bike week any day, and of course keep the stoves up high!

I am enjoying the light duty.

It's nice to get to play the "old timer" card once in a while.

You know, I've heard it said "Want to make God laugh?" ...."Tell him your plans." and this one one of those, just came out of the blue at me!

Time and money are too tight to be buying a new sled which I would want to travel to ride properly.

My back is too screwed to trail ride at this point, I want to, but I'll regret it. Maybe once I get off my azz and lose some weight things might change.

For now, I have just about everything I need to mod a triple except for reeds. I'll have fun going fast.

If you've got the parts to do the zrt t cat, then by all means. Sounds like you've already got a good head start, plus you don't need to relearn everything with the new sleds.

Hell, if I go back to my old roommates garage I'll even know my jetting, and possibly clutching. Unless someone repainted the bench we wrote all our tuning notes on

Some cold weather exercise this afternoon. A walk through some of the new trails in the woods.

If you look through the trees you can see our camp on the hill.

I am tired after trudging through the snow for about 1.25 miles.

I wouldn’t say lots, but we do have them here for sure. I think there will be more moving into the area with the thinning of my woods and the new growth that will be coming in.

I still am amazed at how little underbrush you have there. Nice to make trails in. Is it all relatively flat or kind of up and down?
