Dug in the dirt again today, finished up getting that mother's day gift put together, got the gutter put back together (will pin it in a couple of days, battery was dead on the drill), hauled the lawn mower out of the garage and started it (paw can still do that), now I'll have to locate a replacement lawn mower sometime as the deck is getting holes in it. damm, have only had it since the summer of 1986 and it still starts on first pull. The boss and I went to Cornish and had some seafood, then it was nap time followed by brew time.

Master Mech has been great helping me with my tractor's overdue service. What to get and how to's… very much appreciated…

I now have all of the replacement items today and plan to see how many things I can screw up… Not much of a wrench guy, tho I have ripped skin off my knuckles just before dropping a wrench before… does that count… ;)

Lawn will have to wait until Thursday when the new mower gets here. I went out to mow the lawn and the mower ran long enough for 4 swaths and died. Oh well new one ordered, I love free shipping to the house.

Well at least the laundry is in full swing and the pellet ash pile has been distributed over the compost bin tops next up some dirt. Have 6 piles awaiting their caps of soil and then 5 will be planted with winter squash. Pile number 6 will still be open for kitchen waste.

The most important thing this morning is the stuffing of the face with food and that has been accomplished.

I suppose I should but mowing the lawn isn't my idea of fun I prefer to snow blow it isn't so hot and muggy that time of the year.

Since I couldn't play with the lawn mower much today I charged up two batteries for the driver/drill and pinned the gutter together, now to get a tube of gunk and gunk it up a bit I hates dribbles at joints. Anyway I changed gears to getting the stove ready for the summer. I will tear it apart later and replace the auger motor. Then I might dig in the dirt again for a bit.

Unfortunately I've had no time for firewood work. Working on my days off, making the best of the situation and having fun doing it! LOFL Working with my brother though and that is always a good time.

Edit: Well, I had "spike in foot" today, and did circles doing a bunch of stuff with the bucket before I swap out to the mower deck. I think I'm having separation anxiety… don't wanna lose my lifter, even for a minute… I do this every spring. I carried the mower deck on it's edge so I could blast it with the hi pressure hose. All clean, greased, new blades… ready. Had to move a few piles of stuff we'd raked up, etc. A few more lifts tomorrow, then, will do the hydraulics and engine oils first… put on the mower. Grass is already too long in many spots and we've got rain coming this weekend… :hair:

I've already mowed 3 times this year. I went with a 3pt finish mower to make it easier on/off. I use a big walk behind on the front yard and sometimes the back too. Depends on the mood and if in a hurry. I hate mowing though.

I had a 52" Toro commercial walk behind that I sold in 2007. Really stupid move. I even had welded on a tow hitch for it when I didn't feel like walking. Nice rigs. What flavor is your mower?

48" Toro proline. Just got it this year it has some age but does better than the cub walk behind I had. It has a velke but it needs rebuilt. New bearings and spacers. I only have a little over an acre so I really don't need the finish mower but I don't always cut the lower part of the yard every week.

That's pretty close to the same rig. It was a Proline. Bullet proof.

Yea good kohler motors and built to last. Those old engines take the abuse and keep on getting it. That's part of the reason I used that wheel horse to power the splitter. The small engine guy down the road about had a chit hemorrhage when I told him what I was doing. Apparently he tryed to buy it from the ladies I bought it and my house from. By the time I found out it was to late I had my mind set on it.

I'll bet you're gonna come up with all kinds of cool ways to use your mobile hydraulic power plant. The small engine guy's gonna turn green.

When we were doing the flying thing, we were mowing 2 airstrips. We had that mower's big brother too, the 64", rigged with tow bars so they'd track perfect behind a Jeep or GMC pickup we had available. The 2 finish mowers were quite a sight mowing a clean 8' swath. Once a year, I'd raise the decks all the way and mow the farm's hay fields too. They put on a lot of miles…
