Morning Hoarders, Holy Chit !!!!! it's cold outside. WE SNAPPED down last night and are currently sitting on 7 with a howling NW wind. I had loaded the 30 up last night with 3 y/o Oak @ about 9 p.m.. This morning it is 73 here in the nest, with a awesome bed of coals. Just threw in another chunk of oak. :coffee: now ingesting my morning dose of Caffeine before heading off to town with the Boss for our usual Fri a.m. breakfast and shopping day. Happy as He$$ that I got the wood finished up yesterday and ALL my outside work done before we got slammed with our first taste of winter. Everyone stay safe and have a great day.

Good morning, 25 with lower 30's later and clear.
I was ambushed and kidnapped yesterday by one of me oldest and best friends. He has put together a 14' shipwreck with a "mud motor".
It's something like you might see in the swamps,,,,or a nitemare.
We ended up on the local river,, no woodlot, no chainsaws, no far'wood.
    Had a bunch of fun.
Now back to acting like a responsible adult.

Got home LATE last night, running on about 3 hours of sleep. Trying to get all the air out of the boiler system, but the bubbles won't stop. Been going on 3 hours now...starting to wonder....but I probably have to put 5 cube of water in the system to get 1 cube out, so it kinda makes sense.

Good news is I job my boss lined out this week. Going to learn some new stuff...no China trips.

    Going hunting tonight.

Sitting at 35 here, windy as a bastard though. Tonight is going to be the coldest day of the year, so of course tomorrow morning is when the chimney sweep is scheduled. Gonna have to let the stove go cold and rely on the boiler tonight :hair:

Yup... Murphy's Law... :headbang:... when we first bought this place, the furnace guy was only available, to swap over a new furnace, when (it turned out) the temps dropped below zero. The old woodstove was mighty handy... :fire:

Murphy is an A Hole! I had a nice Ash tree score in my sights on CL about 10 minutes from my house. I was going to call the guy and try and attack it this weekend. I smashed the tip of my ring finger between two big oak rounds today, and now its so swollen that I cant do a damm thing as far as lifting with that hand. I cant even bend the knuckle anymore, which thankfully I could in the minutes after it happened. Midwinter did you see the ash in Windham on CL?

thanks guys! Thankfully, it doesnt hurt too bad now. I was sure I either crushed or broke the bone in the 10 minutes after it happened though. Now its just really swollen and bruised. The entire pad on the finger tip is distorted and purple. Typing is a bitch now!

Oh yeah, the "ashtrays"! I drooled over them awhile, but too big and too many for me. I would have to split them in quarters onsite, move them on a hand truck, all in subfreezing wind-chill. Bummer about your finger. When that happens to me I ice it for an hour or so, keeps the swelling down.
